So because Seibold didn’t finish out the season and they were 15th at the time he ‘quit’ (aka pushed out) it’s not his spoon? Reckon the club record 59-0 loss to the Roosters or the 48-0 loss to the Tigers, both when he was still at the helm had anything to do with why they were down the bottom?

You won’t find many caretaker coaches to find success after inheriting a mess like that, and that’s not to say Gentle isn’t at all to blame too (and our idiot club hired him after all this as well!). But to suggest it’s not his spoon because he wasn’t there at the end, after coaching the club for 65% of the season and even having them in a position where the spoon was a possibility, is craaazy.

When he left, Broncs were NOT at the bottom.

I think it’s difficult to judge Seibs on that Donkey spoon season. Yes, they didn’t have a great record when he left. 3 wins and 10 losses, and they sat 15th. However, he did introduce a lot of young talent, which is serving the Donkeys extremely well now (and probably for the longer term if they don’t stuff it up). He also had to deal with a lot of white-anting from a powerful old boys faction (think Whatmough x 1000 and on roids)… so, harsh and over-simplistic to label him a spoon coach, IMO.

Nah, you have your opinion, but don't speak for me to add weight to your point.

He and the broncos sucked, but the argument you are pushing forward is mute considering they weren't last when he left and may or may not have come last if he stayed.

Only those ignorant to the actual facts believe that Seibold won the 'Wooden Spoon' with the Broncos.

If he remained coaching the Broncos until the end of the season then yes, I would agree with you, but the facts still remain. Seibold only coached the first 13 rounds of the 2020 season for 3 wins and 10 losses and Peter Gentle coached the remaining 7 games for zero wins and 7 losses.

Seibold was not sacked, he quit.

Peter Gentle had 7 games to turn the Broncos season around and he and the players failed miserably and failed to win a game in those final 7 games.

So if I drive a cruise ship onto a reef, bail myself out, am I still responsible even though the boat didn't technically sink with me still on it? And if my second-in-command is left with my mess and can't save the ship does he then get the blame?

Everyone in the real world knows that Broncos spoon was achieved under Seibold.

Seibold NEVER won the 'Wooden Spoon'. That was Peter Gentle's trophy.

Anthony Seibold physically last coached the Broncos in Round 13 of the 2020 NRL Series (65% of the season for 3 Wins & 10 Losses) and Peter Gentle physically coached them from Round 14 up to and including the final round, Round 20 (the remaining 35% of the season) and he didn't win a game in those final 7 games.

When Seibold last coached the team, they were in 15th spot, and they remained there until Round 18. The following week (Round 19) they lost again, and the then last placed Bulldogs beat the Rabbits which then put the Broncos into last place, and the eventual winner of the wooden spoon at the conclusion of the final round the following week.

Seibold officially stepped down on the 26th of August 2020, after he had spent the previous two weeks in home isolation after having to step out of the Project Apollo bubble for a serious family matter.

During those two weeks away, he reflected on his role at the Broncos and the impact it was having on his life away from rugby league.

Broncos CEO Paul White said at the time: “For the remainder of the season, Peter Gentle will continue to coach the team, as he has done for the past fortnight."

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that Seibold was not sacked, he quit.

I was about to agree with you until you added "with Seibold." at the end.

With that cattle, and Seibold gone, there should have been no reason why the cattle that was left with Peter Gentle, couldn't have won at least one of those 7 games and avoided the spoon.

The more accurate argument would be if you were headed towards the reef but 2kms out the capt bailed out and the 2IC sailed it into the reef.

You could argue that having decent cattle is in fact more of an indictment of the coaching, not less.
