Unfortunately Cuss that’s the way T. Cochran is leading the sport by taking it either overseas or to street circuits I fear proper and dedicated race tracks are long gone in Australia.
The Telstra 500 was a success and I am basing that by actual bums on seats. From a viewing perspective it was poor but most street circuit track are like that.
As I said I have fondness for Eastern Creek however Eastern Creek was never designed to race V8 Super Cars it was purely built for the bikes. I do however agree with you that that Eastern Creek should have been developed but I feel that Homebush has been developed as an incentive to get the F1 to Sydney. Unfortunately 10 years of ALP in NSW especially under B. Carr wiped any funding to the sport.
Dedicated racing circuits are going to be a dying breed in Australia.
I bet you find more so called bogans attending a NRL match where as spectators at most race tracks are more family orientated. Most football games you go to you will see a fight break out in the crowd. I go to a fair few V8 supercar race meets throughout the year and have done so for past 20 years and have never seen anyone come to fisticuffs even with all the banter that goes on between Ford Vs Holden.
