Great idea: Northern Eagles???

With the NRL wanting to kill off Manly I think it's time to go the other way and expand!!

Half the matches at Lottoland then the remaining half split between North Sydney oval and Blue Tongue.

That gives us everything North of the bridge and East of the highway up to say Budgewoi and we could have a strong rivalry with the Knights! We'd have plenty of juniors coming through and the NRL couldn't kick us out.

Not a merger. That didn't work and wouldn't work here.

I could even dust off my old Northern Eagles jersey !!

I know the Bears are currently a feeder club for the Roosters but Nick could be reasoned with. He's a nice man.

Benefits:
-we could claim "foundation club" status.
-Our finals wins go up by 2.
-Passionate greats like Greg Florimo can drive the promotion on the North side.
-Huge junior base.
-JT can become an NRL assistant coach again. Perhaps even be allowed to touch the shield in coming years?
-Coasties get to go to a home match without the huge journey.
-After game drinks at the Central Coast Leagues and Norths Leagues. Both great places!
-City/North Sydney workers actually have a chance to get to Thursday or 6pm Friday night matches.
-No need to listen to Todd threatening to send our mighty club out of the NRL or worse, to South Brisbane.
-I could probably take the fishing boat up to the Coast game although that's a bit sketchy, plus no drinks.
-I quite like Coasties. They need a team and it has been sad they have been ignored for years and had their juniors plundered.
-North Sydney oval is a quite nice place to be and well equipped. Bluetongue is one of my favourite stadiums.
-Wyong Roos are a great side! Again we would have to ask Nick politely for them but I'm sure he'd be happy to say yes. Perhaps a straight swap for Blacktown? No idea but it's an idea. My cousin lives very close to the ground so I could crash there if we had a "testimonial" at Morry Breen.

Im thinking we would be better as the Northern Beagles to give it a bear feel

Hey Ricardo, you been drinking the cool aid again? That idea will have a shelve space of less than a minute at the NRL HQ, and Narrabeen. BTW have you met Nick? Your probably right about being nice, I met him once at a business function and he called me a d%ckhead for being a Manly boy in front of a number of people. I retorted by telling him I wondered if he knew that Sydney extended North, South and West from Hyde Park. At least it got a laugh from the other guests. Guess at the end of the day with the money he's got he really speaks his mind.

I just want to wear that jersey 🙁

Great story with Nick. Never met him myself and have no opinion really ... good to see you gave back as good as you got! It's the Australian Way!

Id vote for expansion with two conferences.
Bring in 2nd brisbane team, either PNG or other Pacific team and maybe perth and NZ 2ndnteam
Two 10 team conferences. Winner of each conf plays in GF

Con: And it's a massive one ......... No premierships every decade, it's been close to 100 years since they won a premiership.

Maybe drop the Manly and just become the SEA EAGLES then we aren't really tied to an area and may pick up supporters from other areas. We could play 7 games at Brookvale, 3 games a year on the Central Coast, do the usual 1 game interstate and maybe 1 game out in the bush (Bathurst, Wagga Wagga).

We need to keep our base on the Northern Beaches and also spread our wings.

I don't mind this but instead of the top team from each conference playing in the grand final, you have the top 2 teams in each playing in a series to be crowned the premiers.
The 2 best teams may be in the same conference. They should have the chance to play in the grand final.

I know your heart is in the right place mate but sometimes we have to use our head .

We can expand without selling our soul . We can expend by selling our brand better

In years to come the North Sydney supporters would have died out . Our brand will out live the Florimos

We have a lot of territory on the North Side and we can do a lot of Missionary Marketing work to spread the word, shed the light and unite and inspire all people of the North side to accept the Manly Sea eagles team .

If QLD can sell XXXX beer to NSW we should be able to sell the Sea eagles brand to the North side

Missionary Marketing is a very powerful tool if you know how to use it

Cheers

Clever Marketing for QLD XXXX beer

I’d never say never. It was a decent idea poorly executed.

All the nay-sayers just haven't had a beer at that joint the Labor MP went berko... magic place right on the water!

In my dreams I'd take the tinny up there, tie up and have some salt and pepper calamari washed down with a sav blanc and wander over to the match!

We've just inherited a beagle as a pet. I think it is a sign. Northern Eagles redux it is, then. Seriously Gosford Stadium is a great ground. A few games their could be okay.

What we're missing here is there will be a 2nd Brisbane team whether we like it or not and will be at the sacrifice of a Sydney team. Titans are safe due to the NRL's invested commitment and Nine would want to capture that audience, Cronulla and Manly are the vulnerable ones and the Sharks have already organised their financial situation with the development at Shark Park and have a much larger membership base than we do. Makes me wonder if the players we sign on long term deals are going to factor this in.
