Grand final tickets farce

Today I had the task of booking grand final tickets for 10 people.

Every year a group of us go and we have always been able to sit together as previously you could visit a Ticketek outlet and book the tickets as a group.

This year they decided that you could only book by phone or online.

Their number has been engaged since 10AM this morning and it is impossible to get through. So I decided to order the tickets online.

I had 4 codes that were given to us by the NRL to book. The first email from the club stated that we could only get 1 ticket per member and this morning that was changed that we could get four tickets.

I used my code to order some tickets and as I was doing it, my screen refreshed and all of a sudden my code was invalid and I had to start all over again.

I tried to book a family pass and tickets for 6 adults and all I got was frustration!

In the end, I was able to get 8 x 60 dollar tickets and the 2 blocks of 4 tickets mean that we are not sitting together.

Surely Ticketek and the NRL can get their **** together with this process. It was an A grade hassle to get the tickets booked. As a member, there has to be an easier process like, maybe giving each club a select amount of tickets for their season ticket holders so that you can contact your club and get that done without delays being on hold.

This will be my 19th grand final and over the years I have really enjoyed the experience, especially when the Eagles soar to victory. I again look forward to this one.

I just wondered if anyone else had any hassles today?
 
No issues here, i Purchased a Diamond ticket using my AAN code with zero problems. Except the fact it cost 350 bucks!
 
They don't make bulk purchasing easy due to the increase in scalping unfortunately which makes it difficult in legit circumstances like yours which i'm sure there are plenty of. Might need to work out a new system for future years sadly.
The online / phone only thing is due to the shrinking of actual outlets, a lot of the deals they had with certain places to be an official seller were not renewed, so there are less and less actual places you can go and they don't want to fork out for their own staffing when they can make $5-$10 straight profit off tens of thousands of people printing their own tickets. Rort!
Ticketing is one industry that really needs a shake up.

I attended all grand finals between 2007-13, remember the 1st time I went the top price was $165, now you pay that to sit in the corner !!

Absolutely love the day but will be a long time before I get to another one unfortunately, accomodation prices are an absolute killer too at that time and which adds to it now, booked tickets after we won our prelim in 2011 and couldn't find accommodation anywhere, luckily Cambo let me crash on his couch and another mate looked after me the next night

Now that you have your receipts, go to the Ticketek Agency and get them to move your 2 blocks together. Ive had it done before, the physical tickets are not issued for 2 weeks so the receipt ID allows them to identify your tickets.

Thanks for the tip, I will try and do this. I am glad I have the tickets, I rang the line for group bookings and they said to me that they are not able to do this today and it would be a couple of weeks before that option is available.

Play stupid, it always works for me. @:p

The Ladies that work at Westfield Concierge Ticketek outlets love a sentimental story. 🙄

I got them to reissue tickets for a friend so that we could sit together.
Yours sounds even simpler as both receipts are under the one account.

Don't take no for an answer :shake:
