[Resurrected] Gordon Chan Kum Tong

Mate, he confronted and put his hands on a fan .... the footage shows it was a minor incident, but what if the boofhead and his mate had started throwing uppercuts ... justified or not it was stupid and reckless ... he could have called security, an official, walked away, or ignored it.

Instead he chose the dumbest response possible ...
Understand let’s see what comes out of this. There could be 101 different connotations to the situation, one could argue there could or should have been security between the players and the crowd in the first place. If the NRL is serious about welfare of the players they should not be in a position directly conversing with a rowdy crowd..in such. A way….that to me is the first preventative measure that comes to mind…

agreed, but given I accept that lapses in security occurred, and the NRL and ground management should and will be grilled ... taking it upon yourself to confront, and puts hands on a member of the public was not a smart or valid option ... as I said, the potential for that incident to escalate quickly can't be underestimated ...

I agree it was not the best option for GCKT in the heat of the moment but he should not be in a position to even have to contemplate it in the first place given the seeming ineptitude of the NRL and GM. Unless there is something more sinister to this I think it would be unfair for him to receive some kind of significant ban or fine where again the main issue is more within the NRL’s control…. Interestingly enough just say there was a similar circumstance again with inadequate security and the individuals from the crowd were however making racial slurs at players. That could and would likely erupt into a very ugly situation if the players were directly interfacing with the perpetrators….

there are 2 issues here .. (1) suggested failure of security ... and (2) Gordon Kum(quat) confronting two boofheads.

You cannot justify, or excuse the 2nd because of the 1st ...

Of course I can mate. The thing is you don’t need to agree with me 😀.this is what make life interesting. Btw I don’t think he is without fault but should not be severely punished with multiple week suspensions or a hefty fine. I think a warning would suffice.

Anthony Seibold has explained why Gordon Chan Kum Tong approached a Warriors fan in the stands post-game. "There were a couple of supporters who were disrespectful with their language towards Jake Trbojevic, so Gordie asked him to pull his head in," he said.

What did he expect the warriors fans to say?
"Oh well played sir"
"Unlucky old chap"
Course they're going to shout at him...it's a game of footy.
