lol

Honestly though, and I can't speak for all Canadians, but by and large it's been well accepted. I don't know if those 'internet comments' are from Canadians but it's certainly never been flogged in the main stream press here.

I've noticed something this Olympics.
I have two tabs open, one set to Canadian google news and the other set to Aust google news (sports tab).

And my god, the Australian version is just so negative. Always trying to find some outrage, something to complain about; Aussies uniforms suck, accommodations suck, opening ceremony sucks, too many women, not enough women refs, too many events, not enough events, athletes treated badly, athletes spoiled with private jets and didn't achieve enough, food is too vegan, not enough sportsperson-ship, why did 1st place invite 2nd place on the podium....and it just goes on and on and on.

We're more like: 'yay sports!' - so I don't think you'll find...that we'll get in a bind....over something we don't mind.

Now I'm going to have waffles, maple syrup and bacon! lol

'Yay sports'

PS: Maple syrup is too damn expensive to waste! lol

PPS: I'm not saying the 'person on the street' is complaining ad nauseum, but foxsports is going all out on the complain train.

9 seconds to go...

Aust behind by 2 (in the basketball - mens)

End of regulation - all tied up!!!!!

Good to see there's other bunkers that rort teams: Talking about aust v china (w) game. Huge deflection off the leg "not enough evidence to overturn" - what a crock.

Aust basketball men lose (boo)

Aust wins gooooold in the skateboarding (w). Imagine being 14 years old and an olympic gold medalist? sheesh!

Canada wins gold in the Hammer throw (w) giving them the gold in both mens and womens!

Man, I am struggling coming down the back straight. So much new stuff to watch ( for me. But then again, not many saw it at the Tokyo Olympics) And I’ll admit, I struggled with BMX and skateboarding as Olympic sports initially until I actually started watching the chicks first up. (Can I just say the two dudes commentating had me using words like Dude, did you see that, that was sick bro. I can’t believe he/she did that man, that was so knarly, like dude who pulls off a triple back spin, tail wash, and some other jargon I have forgotten, not sure if they were mates with Tom Craig or not? Yes, I know it’s a cheap shot, but fk him. He should’ve went to the official Olympics drug dealer, yes you pay a bit more, but you don’t get plastered all over the media).
Moving along Wombat, what if I tell you that your country will get a bronze and gold in these events, and one is only 14 years old with a maturity level, even at your age, you will never reach? And a chick who has had amongst other injuries, 5 ACLs…5…count them. And at 27 yrs old she kept going..wow)
Oh shall we just throw in that we won a gold (go Nina!) and bronze to Matty in events we hardly ever go any good at (and they’re "traditional " events. So bad luck to those that didn’t get into it because of that). And one more thing Mr. Bat….

Can I just thank my sponsor throughout these late nights/early mornings….like waiting till 4.30 am tomorrow to see if my man Noah can get the double. Thankyou Nescafé.

You're right GE, Olympic gold at 14 is incredible!

And since then in just 24 hours Aussies won gold medals in sailing (m), skateboarding (m), pole vault (w), cycling (m team pursuit). Such a diverse range of sports...amazing...and it sounds like more to follow!

What drama in the 200 metre!
My man Noah finished 3rd. But somethings up with him?
Tebogo wins and wins well.

Sudden death with USA in woman’s water polo right now.
I can’t drink anymore coffee. I’m fading, but I have to see this out. C’mon girls!

Pretty remarkable effort in the women 's high jump with Australia getting Silver and Bronze .
Not too sure if [ or some ] Russian or Belorussian athletes actually participated in any events as non aligned individuals .
Never a fan of countries being excluded or doing boycotts i e Moscow Olympics in 1980 or L A Olympics in 84 .
Russian and Belorussian tennis players can still compete in international events
Usually just total hypocrisy and double standards and can hardly be the metric of being the best in the world in quite a few instances when big population countries don 't participate .
Easy cliche that sport and politics should not mix but when individual athletes and their sporting ambitions are cruelled , bit hard to justify again selective bans

Well done Maddison Keeney. Silver in the 3m springboard.
Once again seeing Aussies getting on the podium in events that we usually don’t.

*Also, if Tubby Taylor can be part of the diving commentary, then we’ve all got a shot.lol

fwiw

Russian and Belarusian athletes are allowed to compete in these Olympics, in individual events.

The criteria to do so is:

Russian and Belarusian competitors can participate in individual sports as neutral athletes if they meet "strict eligibility conditions," the IOC announced in December.

In order to be cleared to compete as an Individual Neutral Athlete, competitors cannot support the war or have been contracted to the Russian or Belarusian military, in addition to meeting all anti-doping requirements. The Individual Neutral Athlete Eligibility Review Panel, which was formed by the IOC in March, determined each athlete's eligibility.

Hilarious! I was fascinated to see what competitive break dancing would look like and all I can say after that is Wow!!
Awkward is a great word to use.

If this isn’t immediately chopped for the LA games then they are taking the piss.

Marbles would be more watchable than that!

It's already not going to be in the LA Olympics.
