Here on the GC we love footy but we all follow our teams. I'm a gold coaster but I was born in Manly hospital and I'll always support the Sea Eagles. I go to tits games only when Manly are playing and last year there was at least 1 in 3 manly fans at the ground. It will take at least 5 years for the titans to be secure here on the coast. The afl however will go from strength to strength
I don't agree with this suggestion. Love or hate them, the Sharks are an icon in this league and must be saved.
Gold Coast must also be helped because if they fail, then expansion won't happen. They just need to sell off their property, get rid of Michael Searle and turn the business side of the club around. It might take a few years but with the right person it can be done.
Manly was an example of this. $1.4 million in the red, to now in the black...in less than a year. They have more investment property than us as well.
Once the NRL TV deal comes in it might improve as well.
On a side note, it was NRL on Fox I think where Mark Geyer said that the Central Coast Bears would not be one of the expansion teams, that it would be Perth and West Brisbane. I LOL'd!!
