Galvin

Galvin is on a contract of around $350k, contracts are paid from November to November, so that means Tigers have already paid around half of his contract for this year and Galvin's new club is only liable for the remainder under the terms of the salary cap, unless they've made an agreement with Galvin for an upgrade if he is released early, and even this can be backended into his new contract.
It’s not Galvin’s contract that’s the issue,it’s Brown’s.Brown is on around $800K,which means if anyone wants to take him on,they’d have to find just under $400K and I also can’t see Brown wanting to move anywhere unless it’s for more $$

Still doesn't mean anything in regards to Galvin.
He's on sweet FA at the moment.

Edit: and Stewart has been gone 10yrs, a lot has changed
No mate. It is the same rule on the NRL website as when Glen played. Nothing has changed. Teams are not permitted to sign players under market value. To say otherwise is just an incorrect understanding of a very clear rule. How it is policed by NRL HQ is debatable.

Galvin may be on a smaller contract at present but he did knock back 6.5 million over six years. Not to mention demand for halves is at an all time high, and it will become even more apparent with two new teams entering the competition. Galvin has long been regarded as an elite half in the making. The fact he will get snapped up immediately tells us all we need to know about his status in the game.

Whoever signs him must do so for market value. None of this he wants to win a Premier BS. The Tigers offered him 6.5 million for six years, an amount that must be reflected in his new clubs salary if the NRL serious. I'm sick of the double standards we see between the big clubs and the rest.
Which reminds me of the curious story by Danny Weidler about DCE the very day before he himself broke the story about DCE not playing for Manly in '26 and DCE's appearance on Nine...

Sources at the NRL, not authorised to speak publicly, tell me Cherry-Evans will not break the bank for the Sea Eagles, or another club, if he wants to play next year. The Eagles have been told he will be valued by the NRL at $400,000, or even less, on the salary cap.

Daly Cherry-Evans could be valued at less than $400,000 in the salary cap by the NRL next year if Manly want to re-sign him. But right now, the club privately believes he entered this year leaning towards giving the game away at the end of the season.

Manly insiders, not authorised to speak publicly, say Cherry-Evans has been told about a potential coaching job at the club, while media opportunities are also being put forward.

There has been a lot written and said about Cherry-Evans’ future. At this point, he has not yet made up his mind whether to play on in 2026. And that’s a long way from demanding a two-year extension to stay at Manly, as has been suggested in some areas. Neither the club nor DCE’s management say they have heard anything about demands for a two-year contract extension.

Some of the commentary about Cherry-Evans has gone down badly with those close to him.

Cherry-Evans is keeping things to himself, so the truth is not easy to extract. From what this column can ascertain, the club is completely aware of his position, that he is still contemplating his future.

That is in line with Ben Hunt and his valuation at the Broncos. Hunt, 34, was seen as a $650,000 player by the NRL. That would mean Manly would pick up a bargain buy if Cherry-Evans, 36, was to stay, particularly when compared to the monster $1.4 million-a-season deal Dylan Brown will earn in Newcastle.

The NRL can nominate a minimum figure for a player’s salary it will accept on the club’s salary cap, to avoid clubs being advantaged by a player agreeing to a contract significantly below market value. They won’t discuss publicly what the DCE figure is.

There are several other NRL clubs watching what Cherry-Evans does, and they will pay significantly more for a 12-month stint, which could be extended if he plays to the level everybody knows he can. DCE could earn in the order of $800,000 at rival teams if he shocked everyone and decided to test the market.

One of the clubs watching closely is the Roosters, who like DCE’s character and his relationship with their young half Sam Walker.

Cherry-Evans, who will be 37 by the start of next season, has shown no signs of slowing down, and with quality halfbacks thin on the ground in the NRL, he could make big money.

One thing that can’t be challenged is his commitment to a big year with Manly.

I'm surprised so many supporters are not aware of the Fair market value rule.

Ha - funny that.

So weidler writes the day before that Manly were of the understanding dce was likely to finish up at the end of the year and was not asked for a 2 year extension from the dce camp, and was offered coaching and media opportunities by the club, then the next day criticises Manly for not making an offer?

Gee I do - never seen anyone like him for his age. Simply stunning stills.

The closest that comes to mind would be Foz although a different type of player. Even Foz was probably 20 or 21 when his class really shone through.
You could be right. That’s probably why I’m not a talent scout.

Ummm & Dogs!
You wonder how he'll fit @ the dogs. Toby Sexton's going pretty good ATM. Burton might have to return to right centre. Oh wait, that would mean Crighton to the wing. Can't see it myself. Parra are specials. However, if so you gotta ask , if he doesn't like being coached by a former great 5/8 who played nearly 350 first grade games and 31 tests, he ain't gunna like being coached by a prop.

Sounds like the deal is done, good question though, could be Parra as the original talk was Parra, wonder what number he’ll wear? if he wants to keep playing 6 with both Burton and Brown, if it was Parra, they could move Brown back into the centres as he was always a better running outside back for mine verses his time in the halves and as his out of there anyway, so play him where you will for the better of the side, if he is off to the dogs, where does he fit in? I can’t see them shifting Burton, Critter and Bronson are solid three quarters, in any case, don’t see Galvin as a 7, don’t see Burton in a switch because his not a 7 either, plus, where would that leave Sexton? Will be interesting to see what pans out.
They were talking on 360 about the dogs potentially playing him at lock…

Fittler has to be there… he is the best kid I have seen… Izzy Folau would be in the conversation too…
