Flat and no kicking game is the tale

I thought it was obvious that we were flat and lacked energy from the first couple of sets. When you are flat but jag a couple of tries, sometimes you can spook the opposition out of it by playing percentage football. Tonight, we did not play percentages at all. I can't think of one decent last tackle option and that is where we are really missing DCE. When the game is going tit for tat, it comes down to last tackle options to turn the opposition around and stay in the grind. We kept letting the Titans off the hook by giving them the ball around 40m to half way, set after set after set. That meant that we were unable to build any pressure and the game was played down the Titans end of the field.

Also as a side note....the last couple of weeks, Fainu has looked tired. We look better with Api at the moment. I'm not saying that will always be the case, but the zip from Fainu has gone missing the last 3 weeks.
Yes very flat, think they read their own press this week, really thought just turning up would be enough.

In the second half seating in the FM stand right behind the goal post in my usual members seats we had literally no ball in the second and as you said no percentage plays down that end.

We are probably not going to win next week , panthers with james m back and maybe Nathan c if Nsw don’t pick him on Sunday. Going to be very tough without Jake but all we ask from Des is that we see a reponse to tonight’s performance because if we don’t next week then that is more concerning.

As well as the fatigue factor, it was also our 3rd or 4th halves combination this season (DCE & Elgey/DCE & Croker/Croker & Elgey/Elgey & Cust) through injury, & combinations take time to build.

Cust had a fantastic debut vs Sharks but the honeymoon was over last night.

Elgey tries hard but just isn't creative or confident enough on the 5th tackle, seems to just put ineffective bombs up - last night we really needed some grubbers into the in-goal to force repeat sets but he just kept putting up easily-defused bombs.

Without the likes of DCE to guide onfield, Elgey seems to lack inspiration.

End of the day. We are equal 4th. Only lower due to for and againts. Which considering the number of games our 3 strike players have played,
dce turbo and walker .is pretty freaken good. All 3 havent played together yet. Surley we score alot if points when all 3 are fit and firing.

I guess manly will continue to surprise all year.

Unexpected wins every other week, but lose some that we think are in the bag.
In other words, me thinks this year can best be summed up by....expect the unexpected.
