Finally, a statement

Haven't watched watched the video mentioned above, but what is clear cut to me is that the ball has bent his finger there so I'll disregard that video

I think it is great that the referee boss is also the authority that is designated to make statements on refereeing decisions. We should all have complete confidence in the integrity of such a system.

Well Archer has earned the right to be the "last word" on refereeing decisions, given he is the main person responsible for lifting refereeing standards to the lofty heights they are at today. [insert sarcasm emoji here]

I'll wear the benefit of the doubt try to Peachy if the same had been awarded in the Walker and potentially in the Uate disallowed tries.
I think it is safe to say that the main issue fans have across the board is inconsistency rather than incorrect calls being made.
Either all three should have been allowed or all three should have been disallowed. At the very least Walkers should have been allowed as their is hardly "conclusive evidence" that he was offsite. 50/50 at best.

If you watch the other video you will see the ball is nowhere near his hand at that point from a better angle. The bunker have access to more angles then we see on the replays on tv.

Forget that technology crap. If your eyes didn't see the world's most obvious knock-on then you should have gone to Specsavers!

Look i'm not even going to argue the point anymore. Unless that video is doctored, which i really doubt, that was not a knock on. Take off your maroon coloured glasses for one moment! Even if it was a knock on the team needs to look at what they didn't do great rather then blame the refs for the result, its the only way they will improve. Some of the ill discipline in that game by our team was pretty bad.

2 things -
His fingers were peeled back by something so was it the ball or Casper??
Secondly Peachey confirmed it post match.
Commentary team - "Did you knock it on Peach?" - "Nah mate of course not- check the snicker metre" laughing tongue in cheek
Translation - "I got away with 1 there"
Thing is there will be more games decided by the bunker during the finals.
Why they can't rule on a forward pass that decides a match, yet over rule an onside refs call on a kick/chase that decides a game is beyond me??
It was close but far from conclusive to change the initial decision....
Go back to 1 ref to make it consistent for both teams.
Make the decision live for right or wrong with touchies confo.
IF these refs are protected from the media to explain decisions, maybe Barretts call to have them address the players even privately is not such a bad idea.....I mean all jobs have accountability don't they??

Just watched Cronulla post match presser, the only thing discussed were the refs errors, Flanno had 10 that he considered changed the match.

The standard of refereeing has gone south ever since Archer took over. Bill Harrigan was asked to rate his performance and gave him 2 out of 10.

Harrigan was no great shakes as referees boss. IIRC he got the sack. But damn if he didn't do a 10/10 job compared to the garbage that they have been since Archer took over.

Was Billy sacked because he wasn't the yes man who bowed down to what the league and its benefactors (Nein, Fox....) wanted? Is that why he keeps saying he won't do that job again, because he knows they want someone who will toe the company line and he's not prepared to do that?

What saddens me is that Archer was the referee in the 2008 Grand Final when we won 40-0 (what was that.....40-0 you say? Sorry, had to put it there twice hehehe). And that day he didn't favour one team over the other, that game was won on pure class and the refs were hardly sighted.

What has changed that he now seems totally incompetent?

To me the argument over whether the Panther’s try was correct is far less important of the bigger question surrounding why decisions seem to be so inconsistent. If the other two decisions weren’t overturned we probably would not be making such a fuss. It’s these decisions I am far more interested in and what was the process that the bunker used to OVERTURN the on field decision.

If there is other footage (or methods) which is used to allow or disallow a try exists it must be shown (and in my opinion immediately following the decision). Otherwise the bunker is unaccountable to the decisions it makes – the response can always be these angles weren’t shown. As far as fans and players are concerned it is a black box completely susceptible to all sorts of corruption. There is also the impact to players moral: “Why was the decision reversed?” Answer: “Our footage shown it”. Put it up on the big screen so everyone can see it and move on without spending the rest of the game thinking that the “refs out to get us and we are f****d”

If the decisions from the weekend have merit and footage behind them then explain them – in the form of a press release to all media outlets - as the AFL does.

Your asking me to trust a video from Nine the company involved in rigging the games. DCE and Jake reacted immediately and said they definitely saw him touch it. Peachey in an interview after the game virtually admitted touching the ball with his hand.
Well i certainly don't expect to get insulted when all i did was point out there was video evidence of it not being a knock on. Im shocked so many people think the NRL are doctoring video evidence, if this is actually happening then the knock on itself is the least of our problems as it means the whole NRL is corrupt. Its a big step up from a video ref being bias with a decision.

Ok, I'm just going to point out one inconsistency between the two frames, that is as clear as mud and indicates the claim of 'exact same time stamp' is bollocks. Look at the boots of the Penrith player DCE is tussling with - they are directly beside, and parallel to, each other in one of those frames; in the other, the left foot is clearly pointing in a different direction, and there's separation between his feet. That alone says the timing of those frames is not exactly in sync.

The positioning of his and DCE's elbows/upper arms is also slightly off between the two angles.

I doubt the video has been 'doctored' as such; but I also doubt that the time settings on the respective cameras were synchronised - or they were, and the time stamps have been doctored, take your pick.

It is clearly date stamped 1996 on YouTube

The two images are not of the same moment :shake:

Chez and the Riff player have changed their body part positions in respect to each other and themselves - real obvious

If 9 want to publish 10 frames from both cameras lined up above each other, then people could compare each frame.

Publishing 2 photos with Cartwrights' feet apart in the left image yet in the right image being next to each other, is amateur 😎

First shot is probably of Peachy's knee propelling the ball up towards his chest.
Second shot is of Peachy trying to pull his hand away.

But in any and all cases, the game/season is over. @
