Our recruitment priority next year must be to add one or two older, successful players.

We have enough rookies and journeyman. We need winners. Hard heads. Resilience.

Barrett screwed up our rooster by skewing it too much towards youth (funny how rookie coaches favour young players). Having the NRL's youngest roster showed this year.

My recruitment targets would be:

1. William Hopoate

2. Ethan Lowe

3. Sam McKendry (on budget wage, to account for injury risk).

Someone in the middle of the field with some experience would be nice to weather bad runs and keep Jake calm.

I have been reading about William Hopoate at Manly in 2019. Is there actually any basis for this whatsoever?

Agreed. A specialist winger that is not a liability. And a couple hard head forwards is exactly what we need. Ive been mentioning Lowe for a while, he'd be perfect. Love hoppa back but id be happy with Topou or even Feki and another starting prop! We all seem to have a recruitment strategy and most say we need a couple hard nut experienced forwards and a winger now we have Elgey. Hope the manly board and coaching staff see what we all see.

Hopoate would be a great signing ! I really hope we sign him but without a coach for 2019 I doubt any good recruiting will happen !

Speaking of experience I love what Joel Thompson has brought to the team. Did anyone catch him trying to rev the team up on the way out against the Tigers (not that it did the trick!)

“Backs against the wall, every ****’s off us, let’s ****ing turn up”.

Ethan Lowe has looked well past it for nearly two years. Even more so this season. But the other two might be worth a crack... particularly Hoppa. Of course Ethan being past it is purely my opinion, and maybe my opinion has been influenced by his lack of first grade football this season in a struggling Cowboys side.

Wingers are more important these days than ever, and we need two good'uns.
Then we need a second rower who is a tackling machine.
We have plenty of big blokes who look good with the ball but can't/won't sustain defence.

I don’t know if he is past it, but he definitely looks stale - like someone who needs a change of scenery.

Experience, like the Ben Kennedy effect.
Ben Kennedys are rarer than hen's teeth. Exhibit A - we didn't get value from Myles.
You need someone who still has a) the hunger and b) plenty of miles left in the legs
Matt Scott would be a major injury gamble. I thought James Graham to St Merge was a year late, and right now it looks like he's got little left in the tank.
There are a handful of clubs who have more quality forwards than can fit into their team. There must be some prospect we could lure a Panther, Bronco, Chook or Storm forward to support Marty and AFB up front. Woods would have been ideal, but too expensive.

It's like we need a recruitment manager!

I really think you are searching in the wrong place. Our forwards are (generally) good. Our outside backs are the problem.
