From a marketing perspective there would be no point announcing too much too soon - there are a number of people who will sign up again no matter what...better off saving your news to get the reluctant / on the cusp (all that said when has our club made smart marketing decisions)

It's usually the push before Xmas where they announce more but that's also because the new season starts Nov 1st.

Don't apologise - I called their season over before half time of the first game! I know what they're gonna do. They'll stink it up big time then win enough games to not get a top shelf draft pick, even though they need a QB because Rivers should to be put out to stud so he can produce even more children. That's Chargers 101...
