Dylan Brown - $13 million deal with Knights

Dylan Brown is worth half of that money and Drugcastle must be desperate.

I despise the system that allows a player to sign a contract with a rival club after 1 week of competition. So unfair on members of clubs who now have to watch a player that their club nurtured and gave an opportunity, play it safe for the season.

I watched Kieran Foran do that in 2015 and frankly it was agonizing to see an adored player sign with our despised enemy.

The NRL need to fix this system, there needs to be a transfer window for all clubs to make their trades.
System is faulty for sure. NRL wont allow Turbo to take a pay cut and then of course there was the Gift shafting when he was sent to go and play for souffs. We got reamed on that one.

Did it for his family apparently...
Brown shared the news to his social media followers a short time later.
“Hello everyone, I have decided to take an opportunity that is best for my family,” he wrote.
Yeah. They are all keen surfers and the Newie beaches have better breaks with less eels than the Parramatta River.

Once Parra moved Arthur on it was always on the cards. However I did not expect a club to throw 1.3 million of their cap at him. Its gonna be a tough year for the Eels.

So next season Newcastle will have the two most expensive players in the NRL . . and probably still not make the top eight.
Maybe not, but they've actually made the finals nearly every year in recent times. Slip under the radar because they never go far and are never considered a real threat, but do play finals.

Dylan brown isnt a half because he doesnt kick the ball. He is not even a star player. Worst buy in nrl history.

deadset 34 kick meters on the weekend. There are nsw cup halves who have a better kicking game.

I agree he isnt but I think you can shape a team around him and Ponga with a more budget organiser at half.

Where that leaves Sharpe I've not idea as he looks.......sharp
Yeah I take your point. It’s not like there are other marquee organising halves to prioritise over him anyway. He has a great skill set and maybe he can learn to play with more control as he develops.

Regardless, I don’t really see the Knights as a looming premiership threat with or without Brown. They’ve got that smell about them, where it wouldn’t matter what they did or who they bought, they’d find a way to remain mediocre.

How much more $$ are Newcastle going to have pay Ponga now?
It's gonna be one bent out of shape salary cap.

LOLOLOL

Honest question: Would Brown make our top 17?
I'm not sure he would. Brooks is fitting in nicely with our superfast outside backs.
Salary cap aside.

100% he would and for mine its not even close. Love Brooks, great player but Brown walks it in.
