He's a dangerous player with heaps of talent but is not a dominant playmaker. He's a runner and a foil for an organising half. For this reason, he is probably not worth building a club around. He's a guy you'd happily have in your roster but you don't want him to be your main man.

Don’t get me wrong, Brown is good but that is crazy overs for a half that has not achieved much outside a national team that is stacked well beyond the bounds of an NRL salary cap…

Obviously somebody has said to O’brien that offering $800K per year for Hastings was the craziest signing Newcastle has ever made… and O’brien has straight-up replied “Hold my beer!”

He is durable so they should get plenty of games out of him but $1.3M guaranteed (with ratcheting clauses!) for 10yrs is nuts - Ponga will HAVE to be on $1.5M per year for his next contract if that is the benchmark!!!…

not that I particularly care, I hope it is an albatross around the knights neck for the next decade…
