Double headers to highlight 2018 NRL schedule

My wife and I ( wearing our Manly gear ) had a horrendous experience leaving the double header in Brisbane this year.

Everyone gets on the grog ( it’s a Saturday so not like the usual come after work Friday) from lunch time , so by the end of the second game there’s some very drunk and very agressive opposition fans.

We were pushed, shoved , spat on, my members hat stolen and trashed whilst we we were walking from the ground to meet up with some old MWTS friends at the Hotel LA.

Remember we are grey hair “ old farts” and whilst I could hack it ( to an extent ) I was furious that they were also targeting my wife.

Low, vile, scum.

So sorry, no more double headers in Brisbane for me, in fact I’ll probably downgrade my membership and just stick to watching it on Foxtel these days.

Mark, I had a similar experience with my son who isn't that into the footy .... but he does watch manly matches with me when he is home. I have a pronounced limp and bit of a stoop from a broken back, he was holding my arm to support me through the crowd after the game ... heading for Roma St Station, he was jostled and stumbled and I fell, both our manly hats were stolen .... I will add that we were helped by some Broncos fans that were disgusted and embarrassed by these yobbos behaviour ... 6 or so of them and about mid 30s I'd guess

I can understand the double header in Perth featuring their new stadium. I get it, for the double header in Sydney featuring four Sydney teams. But the double header in NZ. It is the Warriors home game, all good. But what benefit is it having Wests v Melbourne? I can't see that dragging too many extra people in. Should play that game at Christchurch and grow the game.
Okay, I go to the Sydney double header, watch one game then I am subjected to what, a 30 minute to 1 hour wait while the teams warm up? If your team plays in the first game, a lot of interest goes out the door unless the 2nd game starts straight away.
