Canterbury’s head conditioner Donny Singe says uncertainty over the club’s future coaching structure prompted him to quit the club.

The highly-respected Singe will finish up at the Bulldogs after tomorrow’s last round clash with St George Illawarra, ending a relationship with coach Des Hasler stretching back more than a decade at two clubs.

“I was one of the original re-signings of the coaching crew - approved by the Canterbury board - for 2018/19, but due to the indecision on the future (of the coaching structure), I was told coaching contracts would not be presented until after the season,” Singe told Sporting News.

“I absolutely understand and respect the club’s position. I resigned so I could ensure a positive outcome for my family and my professional future.

“I can’t afford to sit around and wait for other people to make decisions on my future.

“I train men to move and act, not sit and wait. Champion teams dictate terms.”

Singe stressed that he had no beef with the Canterbury board and understood and respected the decision to review every facet of the coaching structure.

He said: “There is no malice towards the Dogs. That’s business and I understand that and they have graciously accepted my resignation.

“Now I am able to enter legitimate talks with possible positions with other codes and teams.

“I didn’t want the Bulldogs or any other club I was talking to thinking I was going behind their backs and sneaking around.”

Singe, who will work with the Kiwis at this year’s World Cup, is sure to be in great demand across a number of codes.

He may return to where it all started in rugby union.

Singe’s departure is another blow to Hasler’s hopes of remaining at Belmore beyond this year.

The Canterbury boss has lost most of his loyal deputies over the past two years and may be on the way out despite having two seasons to run on his deal.

Singe refused to speculate on Hasler’s future but firmly believes the veteran coach is the man to lead the Bulldogs back to the top.

Yes yes yes get him back. No disrespect to the hipster looking long beard trainer guy we have now, but Donny is a Manly boy. Now Snake, Matai, Gifty and the rest of the clique have moved on, lets get Donny back to meld that Manly killer instinct on this new breed of Eagles. After tonight it appears they already have it, but Donny, he is a big asset
