Did anyone else see it

I understand what you are saying, but when you start allowing it, coaches start coaching tactics for it eg: first player disrupts the contest with 3 players immediately behind to pick up the crumbs.

I saw it on the highlights and immediately recognised it as an illegal play....and was just annoyed it was play on. thanks goodness I didn't see it live.

I thought it would have been mentioned in the game day thread and it was.

People can say we played badly (and they're probably right) but it doesn't help when tries go against you like that, widdop can punch with impunity, de belling can elbow etc.

But yes, it was just cheating against us by the bunker (and hence the nrl.)

having such a bad year in attack as well, second by an entire point.

Why isn't he putting up kicks all the time instead?

I'm ok with the guys challenging the high kicks (that's the way the game was played before anything hard became illegal) as long as it goes both ways. It's just a pity we never got the chance to try one on them at the other end!!!

Nightingale did a good job.
Yes, he took out Uate but whether it was intentional or not I don't know, but he did jump like he was making an attempt to catch it and that's what the bunker was looking for - he jumped way earlier than Uate although he was never going to get it.
Home ground advantage knowing the sun would be in Uate's eyes and being a bigger body he made sure it would be as difficult as possible for him and Walker's lack of urgency made him a sitting duck.
Saying that, we were a couple of yards off the pace from the get go and to compound things it seemed like the Penrith game where the ref's had us back about 15m and them 7m, we were always defending on the back foot.

Their kicking game was spot on @StuBoot and Uate isn't great under the high ball even without company. The refereeing wasn't as bad as at Penrith and like you said we were a few yards off the pace. When we get a few players back this week I'm expecting them to play allot better.

If you dont have 100% commitment in the NRL you will never overcome the inevitable klunkers/ bounce of the ball that is the NRL

We know that, we turned up flat and the dragons and the game handed us our arses on a plate.

I think the team has enough belief, and if we get some troops back could still screw with some other teams dreams in the finals

But we need close to our best team on the paddock. But so do most teams.

They scored from 3 perfect cross field kicks from a halfback that's ordinary at times. Why can't our halfback produce the same kicks.
Because sadly, we don't have anybody capable of being a threat attacking the high ball. I've mentioned this elsewhere... it should be a go to play for Tommy, with his height and athleticism. Unfortunately, He hasn't really developed a reliable air game yet. There is nobody else currently who is a genuine attacking weapon with high balls. Although Uate has certainly improved his hands defusing bombs, he lacks the height to be a genuine threat of any kind. Like Tommy, Parker has some physical attributes that could make him dangerous in this area, but we'll have to see when he makes first grade consistently.

I don't think anyone is seriously blaming the refs for our loss on Sunday because the plain and simple fact is that for 65 of the 80 minutes, we were crap and you're not going to win football games that way unless the opposition plays even worse. Our attack was way out of sync and our defence was almost non-existent.

What I think is being said is that there were a few dodgy calls from the refs/bunker that did go against us which didn't help.
