In his press conference a few minutes ago he said: "We have evidence that Cronulla have rorted the salary cap for several seasons, stretching back to 2013".
A little later, in answer to a question he replied: "The Sharks were salary cap compliant in 2016 when the won the premiership."
This makes sense!
Cronulla cheat the cap in 2013, 2014, 2015 without premiership success.
In 2016 they go clean and win their first premiership.
So, in 2017 and 2018 they revert to their proven unsuccessful strategy of cheating the salary cap....

The most stupid thing about that is that if you are salary cap non-compliant the year before you won a premiership, couldn't it be argued that that non-compliance either helped you sign or retain a player that has played in your premiership year? You're on fire today Stevo. To answer your question indirectly, our salary cap has been handicapped for 2018 and 2019 for some breaches from previous years, breaches which still have not been clearly explained.

So if it's suitable to deem that our cap can be punished for multiple seasons after the fact, how can you then say that breaches just prior to a "clean season" would not have affected the likelihood of that premiership victory?

It's all designed so Todd can hand out punishments that suit at that time and not be held to any form of consistency in the future.
E.g a run of the mill player does something stupid early in the season. Todd hands out a 4 week suspension.

A star player heading for finals football does the exact same thing in the final round and gets 1 week or 'a thorough investigation' after the season.

Oh, I don’t mean docile rugby league reporters mate. I mean proper serious investigative reporters that dig relentlessly deep into facts and question the state of a national sport and it’s administrators that meticulously prepare tables on the likes of Packer, Lodge, Inglis, De Belin, Walker and others and start to ask some serious questions about the decision making in the game. Thought the Sharks in with their numerous cap rotting years, all bar one that results in a title. The list goes on and one. I would love to see a hard hitting non sports journo get into a one on one with Greenburg or Beattie and really start drilling down into each and every major decision and enquiring into the thought process that leads to such inconsistent rationale.
