Haha... Nah mate. Plenty of factors played into this loss. Parker's bombed try, Williams second try, Garrick taken out after kicking the ball, Sipley not passing to Foran, having to defend set after set on our own line, getting zero of the 50/50 calls. I'm not throwing my toys out of the cot buddy. We'll be sweet.

I really hope Schuster is back next week. I am worried that Des does not value the creativity he brings as highly as most others do.

Other thoughts -

Tom has made a lot of players look a lot better than they are. Not only does he create most of our chances but he along with DCE are always the first two in support of any half chance (usually something initiated by one of them anyway). Seemed to be very little support of anyone who half punched through the line tonight. Highlights the gap between Origin class players and others.

Too many players playing out of position especially in the backline. At one stage we had Walker, Foran, Cust and Croker all out there at the same time looking totally confused as to their role and getting in each others way. Garrick is a winger and Walker no halfback.

We do not have a back up fullback in the Club. Garrick is a capable winger but neither him nor Walker are first grade standard no 1's.

We need to learn how to diffuse attacking kicks inside our red zone (quickly).

Haumole is a gun and Lawton is an absolute workhorse with a fantastic work ethic.

Jetski and Suli have had more than enough chances.

Out of those on our injured list prior to tonight - only Schuster, Aloiai, Jake and perhaps Davey deserving of a spot in the top 17.

Enough said.

When the attack looks predictable and pedestrian the go forward lacks energy,spark, directness and power leading to a defence that is just going through the motions and disinterested in putting the extra 1%'s along with doing too much defence as we don't control field position or possession.

When Walker is running sideways with the one arm show the ball behind play you know things are not looking good for the attack and you can switch the game off.(not Walkers fault by the way)

On the Matty Johns show tonight Mary macgregor made a very good point about being a FG coach.

He said plenty of people have lots of opinions yet only one person actually has to front up and make decisions.

We’ll put. I vent sometimes about selections post a loss but it’s never really a finger point at Des. I trust he knows what he’s doing. Even my young fella said to me during the game when I was blowing up at why he picked Jetski “dad you even said before kickoff that picking Jetski adds a bit of experience to the team over Ben and gives him some game time, now you are angry at why he’s picked?”. It’s a rough gig making these selections. Des did hook Jetski tho and gave him no more game time. Tough one today this result for all involved.

I dont think walker should have been in the halves. Cust in could have made a difference.
Suli again can be totally ****e and a diamond all at once.
On the Gojetski selection I feel it was probably about game time now there isnt a reserve grade comp.
We are pretty thin on fit reserves so probably need to get some gametime in some of the fringe players.

Have to say this loss is on Des
We only had 2 players out on rep duty so why so many changes
Keep the same 15 from last week
play Cust at 7 and the reggies fullback at..... fullback
How hard is that to work out
Dumb dumb dumb Des sorry but dumb...
you completely disrupted the team balance and as an experience coach you should know this.. coaching 101
Instead of a simple change you
Split our in form defensive centres and put a guy in at Center that can’t tackle ...DUMB
You then take a defensive centre and put him on the wing??? What for...his attack?... he’s slow and can’t finish DUMB
By doing the above you take an inform winger... who is fast and can finish and play him at fullback when HES A WINGER and not a great defender.....
You then leave a seasoned halfback who would be jumping out of his skin to shine at halfback on the bench ... and to make matters worse only bring him on when it’s too late..
This is also compounded by taking a player who has been useful off the bench in recent weeks and playing him at 7.. he’s been useful off the bench because he is a ball runner, running at tired defenders he is not an organiser, has a very average kicking and defensive game yet you think he suddenly is a halfback ..WTF were you thinking
And bringing in JetSki 1hr before Kick off after 8 weeks out and no match fitness and playing him big minutes in a defensive role... Dumb.. there has to be an investigation, someone has to be held accountable... but really no need for an investigation Des, we all know where the blame rests....
Very dumb Des I really do hope you learn from your dumb mistakes otherwise I may start to wonder what really is going on in your head

Left DeLuis on the bench far too long while jetski killed us again and again.

I dont blame Cust if he tries to find a new home. He is a genuine number 7 and still cant get a run when our regular 7 is out. He must really be on the outer with Des

Can't disagree with the fact Des got a few wrong tonight, BUT....if the opposition is twice as enthusiastic, as Canberra were, the bounce of the ball, key decisions, 1%ers will all go your way....and they did.
Only 3-4 players were at their recent form and with that many suitcases being carried around some are gunna get dropped and some even lost and after a while, noone knows what suitcase to carry.
The number 1 tell tale sign of a teams energy is the talk and Manly were like strangers at times, as in the early season rounds and it showed with bad defensive reads, lack of support, clunky attack and really was a sad game to watch in the end.

You are a very hard marker buddy. Parker should not have been on the wing. Tippytoes (a winger) should have been there. Suli needs to be paid to stay home. Cust or Lawton should have played 7.

Even still, the weight of possession delivered the winner of this game. Remember the Tits game?

We were never winning this one .
You take a teams top three leaders out ,what can you expect.
Poor old yoyo Des one week he is the best coach in the world ,next the worst,hopefully next week back to the best.

Look the effort and performance isn't on Des - the strange selection policy is though - picking Walker stifled the attack. I though he might be able to just take it to the line and pass but that is not his game. Playing Jetski was a poor poor option. Suli can be damaging and great coming out of our own end but he has way way too many brain fades. So yes the wrong selections are on Des - the poor effort and the mistakes - all all on the players

The reason we lost is because we did not have the ball. Canberra did a good job in controlling the ball despite being clunky themselves. Sure we were certainly clunky and in retrospect som selection/ position decisions were certainly far from optimal. But to put it simply if we had even 10% more possession we would have easily won that game even with that team. When we did get the ball we always looked dangerous. Full credit to Canberra as they did a great job in controlling and starving us out of the game.
