Departing 2024 Players

Also, you might want to steer clear of Instagram, Facebook and in particular X (formally twitter) because they are a cesspool of negativity, hate and differences of opinions.
I have 0 people on ignore. ZERO. With all the absolute crap slung my way from many on here over the years. Threats of violence, people talking about my family, crossing lines with real life job security. The abuse.
The Zero Tolerance People Perspective

Good day feathered friend Ryan
I do not agree with you that your team of our departed Eagles would beat our current Manly Team
But the does not make me or you or any others any different from any forum, Fbook , Instagram or Family members who are all unique individuals and see things in a different perspective and have their own views .

I Respect you Ryan for the Respect you have for all people by giving them the courtesy of their views , beliefs and ideas and This typifies that type of Respectful person you are

What do you call people who do not tolerate other people's opinions like you do ?
Intolerant and Bigoted people are the ones that refuse to allow others to express views that are different from their own .

Congratulations @Ryan for being Bibber than a Bigot and respecting every ones Personal right of views and beliefs .

In conclusion ...
All clubs have players in their squad that All have
Different religious views
Different social views
Different Political views
Can you imagine if all players had Zero Tolerance for each other ?
How many games would they win ?

The Moral of the story
The Biggest losers in the world are the Bigots

Good luck to the kid he was well back in the pack for the Eagles
Good luck to Jaxson Paulo
He will need it because he was released by all his other clubs like the Roosters and the Rabbits

Good luck also to Manly because successful clubs make their own luck
and the more players like Paulo who are not capable of winning a premiership that Manly release
The more chance we have of stepping up on the Ladder

The moral of the story
The only way is up with the right choices that we all make

Any one that is not capable of Winning a Premiership with Manly
Should go and join the list of Departures
and stop Wasting our
Precious and Prestigious
Premiership Winning time

Agree with most of that. I do find it amazing how generally, our forum considers our players world beaters when here, but all of a sudden they are rubbish when they leave (that's not a comment about what you've said btw, just generally).

I think we have the answers at 9 & 14 going forward (Simpkin & Arthur). Compare that to say (Croker & Burbo) to finish the season, and we have the options to instantly improve.

Haumole of amazing, but our 12 & 13 options are poor. We CANNOT have a combination of Tevaga, Jake, Burbo and Brown as the remaining 4. They are WAY too slow as a group. Heck, they were slow when Lawton was part of the rotation, but we've gotten slower.

Our props are actually okay for mine. A combination of Paseka, Aloiai, Bullemor & Sipley (the slower one), and it's okay.

08. Taniela Paseka
09. Jake Simpkin
10. Ethan Bullemor
11. Haumole Olakau'atu

14. Jake Arthur
15. Josh Aloiai

I think 1 of those spots has to be Caleb Navale now (lock for mine). Leaves 3. The best 3 for mine would be Sipley, Brown and probably Tevaga (but they are all the same). Jake will be there though.

But these are our weak spots imo.

Jake has to go to the prop rotation he’s too slow now for lock.

Simpkin is younger , faster but not the defender Froggy is so that’s a conundrum, maybe the old 1/2 we had with Ballin / Le Strange is the way to go.

Frog starts , Simpkin comes on after 20 minutes , Frog comes back on later in the game to shore up the defence

Maybe

Worth noting Simpkin has a better tackle efficiency than Croker.

Not that TE is the be all and end all, but Croker is not undropable based on his defense.

Like your thinking @Ryan on Simpkin replacing Croker in the seventeen, but I would like to see Tevaga given a go as our starting hooker, with Simpkin replacing him in that role after 20 minutes. I would still start Jake at lock, but replace him with Navale after 20 minutes. If we get Bateman I see the forwards potentially lining up like this in 2025.

08. Taniela Paseka

09. Jazz Tegaga

10. Josh Aloiai

11. Haumole Olakau'atu

12. John Bateman

13. Jake Trbojevic

17. Nathan Brown

Hey mate - Jake isn't actually in my top 17 anymore - I love the guy, don't get me wrong. But Siebold will 100% have him in there. I think he's a 17 now (as best). You just can't have him on against fresh teams. Possibly back end of each half against tiring players - he can defend like a machine then.

Lots of people are having groups like Jake, Tevaga (who probably are the same pace), Sipley, Brown and others on at the same time. We'll get torn apart by quick teams through our middle, similar to the past decade.

I really hope we progress, morph and change our style to be a 2024 / 2025 team asap.

Bateman would help , he’s a good player at his best.

Jake will 100% be there , it’s a cartel

So happy. I was praying his name would be on the list. He completely brought our club to shame in the semifinal against the Roosters. His stint at Manly was mediocre. Goodbye and good riddance.
Lodge was out injured for the majority of his time at Manly.
When he did play he took the ball up the field like a wrecking ball.
Also, he had a decent offload.
In defence he monstered the opposition.
I have conveniently wiped the Semi-Final against the Roosters from my memory.
Though I do remember Freddie Jones being chaired from the field after Manly defeated Roosters 19-14 in the 1972 GF.

I don’t get this talk that Croker has to be in the team for his defence, Yea he makes a lot of tackles but so does every hooker in the comp. His technique for the 1 on 1 low tackles is great but that’s also why teams target him. Either they are getting an extremely quick play the ball or a penalty with how the game is reffed these days.

Personally I don’t like all the wrestle & think players like Croker + Jake should be rewarded for their great technique by being allowed to hold on for a couple seconds. Sadly the NRL doesn’t seem to appreciate the classic leg cutters like we all do. These 2 are a big reason why it feels like we are constantly getting steam rolled through the middle against the better teams. Id much rather have someone like Simpkin in hooker that can at least add some attacking spark when teams are focused on Turbo.

I can remember two decent games in the entire time he was with us. One was against the Dragons in 2023 and the other was against the Dogs in rd.27 this year. The rest were average, poor or never happened due to injury. I know you’ve wiped that Roosters game but he talked it up all week and came out and got smashed. The Roosters fans absolutely loved it and gave it to him both barrels. It was humiliating to sit in the crowd as a Manly fan and cop that from the Chook pen.

16 other Sea Eagles players kind of also let every who supports the club down that night.

You poor fella, sitting there, just being humiliated, Let's hope all those Manly Players out on field felt humiliated by that smashing.

The one thing I would say, is it does seem a bit harsh to hang all that game on Lodge. He got smashed by a team of chickens, so where were all our team? Our bunch of Merry Gay Pride hating and loving Merry bunch non of our forwards showed up that night? They all went missing.

Only Olakau’atu turned up, sadly.

It was a brutal evening but I’m singling Lodge out because he talked it up during the week and lit a fuse that the Chooks supporters absolutely relished!

His best Leonard , by a margin was against Cronulla at Shark park
Manly led by 20+ points and nearly got run down....but Lodge took on their pack and single handedly dominated the middle....his first stint after first joining Manly, I felt he was really good....but after getting injured, he never came back the same unfortunately

Yeah Gauc had a go that night. Looked a young forwards leader. Hopefully we see more in 25.
