Outworked yes, but they were aided and abetted massively by Gee after it looked like we'd just roll on.
They were allowed to just crawl off the mark through the ruck consistently and as soon as we tried to stop it, bingo six again.
Some might argue that we didn't "win" the tackle but it was non stop.
7-0 set restarts at half time, many of them late in the set.
Does the new crackdown on not playing the ball with your foot not exist anymore?
Have a look at Capewell's tunnel ball in the tackle before l think their third try.

Yep, we were poor but how it can end up 11-2 in set starts is ridiculous.
And when we were back in touching distance they got lucky with two challenges that ended up penalties to them.

I'm not in denial, we were poor yet could have easily been up 12-18 after 15mins.
It got ugly after that.

Slight difference and it’s in your statement,” 4 time defending Premiers”
They can afford to have an off night in defence, they’ve proven their class. What has Manly shown?
That’s not the point. He said ‘36 points is unacceptable’. I’m merely pointing out it happens to the best in the comp.

36 points conceded is unacceptable for 1st grade. 18 or less is what you want. Gotta work harder lads!
Penrith just conceded 38 to a terrible roosters team (on paper). With the 6 agains constantly getting called it’s becoming harder for good defensive games, there’s just too much momentum involved. At one point in that first half it was 7-0 set restarts & they had about 70% of the ball.

All we can do is try work on the discipline, it was really poor in the 2nd half. I will say that ref was clearly impacted by the NZ crowd in the 1st half, softest set restarts on 4th & 5th tackle you’d ever see meanwhile they were holding us down for twice as long when we tried to get out of trouble.

Sipps lack of lateral movement continues to be a major liability. Mind you, many of our forwards aren’t much better. Opposition forwards seem to get over the advantage line with any decent dummy half feed, and step our forwards easily to at least get on their bellies with quick play-the-balls.

We have no mugrels in our pack, we were so out played by the Wahs pack, we lacked the smarts to control the game and earn the right, looking to score of every set.

Just watching Hudson young against the warriors, when he was miked up, their forwards belted the Wahs and their intensity put our pack to shame, no wonder we lost.

Hudson and company get the chance to basher our forwards next round. Hmmm.🤔

Be interesting, think Tapine’s out, we seem to go pretty well against the raiders, but our side may be a little crippled as well, Savage is also out.

On form they smash the Wahs, the Wahs worked us over, think they will be looking forward to a crack at us, they’ll take it to us up front and stay at us for 80, think it will be a tough game.

Yep, they did crawl off the mark (my pet hate) and got six agains for it!!!! The set restarts are nothing short of a blight on the game because they too often set up results basically on a referee's whim. Play the ball is a joke re consistency - that is no surprise. Forget the foot and play touch rule - I don't care but no moving off the mark or it's a penalty!!! That I'd love to see. As for set restarts ... we may as well play unlimited tackle in the 20 metre zone - that's what it is fast becoming. In fact, I think it might even up games if such a rule was adopted by NRL. Couldn't be much worse.

Don't think I've seen so many 6 agains given against a team. Most of them I didn't even know what the ruck infringement was. But someone with a better eye than me might confirm they were warranted.
Our errors early on were due to playing like millionaires (although now wondering if Turbo was hurt early on and that took away his focus on execution?)
The possession the Wahs were given was too much. Ref gave them opportunities and they ddn't waste them.
Live to fight another day, back at Brookie.

Only watched the second half so it's hard to judge it.

Looks like they were threatening in attack but players were running the wrong lines and there were poor handling issues causing errors. On the back of the errors it caused a lot of defensive pressure and we looked gassed in the last quarter, throw in some poor discipline due to fatigue and the score reflected this.

I thought for a small period in the second half a comeback looked on, but after butchering one that lead to a Warriors break and try they were gone. Disappointing but not unusual unfortunately, it's been the same story for a few years now.

They've got like 5(?) weeks in a row at Brookie to learn from tonight and build into the season, so it'll be interesting to see how the players and coaching staff respond.

Should also be pointed out that Tom was almost a passenger and missed a chank of time in late second half as did DCE. Also noted Jake was sin binned at the 62 minute mark with NZ leading 24-16. That alone ended any come back

I don't care about the loss so long as they learn from it. I didn't watch the game (and am glad I didn't now), but they need to take away:

  • win the frigging ruck
  • respect the ball
  • don't get sent to the bin

Do those three things and we will win these matches.

The biggest three for me

  • Defensive line speed
  • Enthusiasm and physicality in defence.
  • Simpkin to Hooker, need variation in the middle other than ball to Turbo, Brooks and DCE.
