DCE to announce retierment

I would not be surprised if that's the case. The sub-text in some of the reports that came out a couple of months ago, along the lines of 'wait and see' were in stark contrast to the way DCE has always done business. The vibe was off and gave me an inkling that this year would be it. If so, it's incredibly scary.

I will believe it when I see it. Hmmm this tread will no doubt create a news headline once some ambulance chasing journo sees it. Interesting the poster who has magnanimously shared this has also suggested in previous posts that. DCE is nothing more than a headless chook that needs to be punted from the team….

I was told today by a mate that is close friends with DCE that he will in fact announce his retierment this year.
Make of it what you want but I guess time will tell.
I feel like losing the GF or a close prelim is the only way we'd be able to make him stay for '26.

I'll admit, I'm a younger bloke, and I cannot remember a time before DCE was our halfback. Going to be a big change for sure.

He has been a rock for the club for a long time.
We've all had different of options on him over his career., but when it has come down to it he has been the glue and everything else for the club. Will be a strange day if and when he hangs up the boots.
In the end he is a legend of the club.

DCE has been immense both on and off the field. As the leader of the team, he has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill, leadership, and dedication, earning the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans alike.

If he does step away from the game, he will leave behind a remarkable career filled with achievements and an indelible mark on the club's history.

Hopefully he continues to be involved at the club in a coaching or mentoring role post his playing career.

This is probably why DCE specifically wanted Joey Walsh next to him in the sheds for the year as Siebold said in The manly way
This probably would give an indicator as well, of the faith he probably therefore has in Hoppa, Large, and Walsh... Good stuff.

I doubt DCE would ever hang us out to dry, he will certainly have a role at the club post-retirement. If he goes into a media role, it'll be great to finally have someone commentating who doesn't hate Manly and isn't called Dan!
