DCE is a rugby league great. The end

True, but Kimmorley took the line on more. Kimmorley was a really good player of his time, but does not get a mention in the ‘greats’ conversation
Aiiighttt, agree with that taking on the line more. I just wish we get a Blake, Des, Toovs ASAP cause they played as an extra Hooker. ASAP

Look i agree with the sentiment and as one of his biggest critics i dont enjoy watching him drown

But 25 poor games out of 350. While i accept its a guesstimate its not even ball park
Mummamia

For years he was invisible man 6 weeks pre origin .

TBH its difficult to find cherries place in history due more to the over exaggeration of his deeds . Without doubt the modern day braith Anasta .

rather than recognise him as a resilient clubman, there is a need to constantly push a greatness that just never eventuated . Good player but never really made his mark as a 7 since the glory days , at manly anyway

if he has been your man you should be cheering him on still.
The end

Kimmorley openely dissed the club since and for many i think it erodes his contribution. It can never been separate . Kimmorley had a real dig for us, had a big heart and threw himself into the defence at times to inspire the team. Had his limitations but played really hard toward his strengths

My fav footy song ever though
Its amore tune

When your half throws the ball
But the other team scores
Its kimmorley

The majority of Gimmemorley’s NE teammates couldn’t match his pace, along with his flat passing.

It was what it was, whatever that means.

The good news was that his signing seemed to be one of the catalysts (eventually) in the dissolution of the Norgles.

The bad news is it eventually led to the Pennypacker family getting their grubby fingers stuck into the M-W pie.

Ahh yes, H.E Pennypacker. The rich industrialist, philanthropist and bicyclist! Still just looking for a place to settle down with his peculiar habits and the women that he frequents with.

Yeah nah.

We went all in on him and he delivered 0 post his debut year where he was surrounded by a bunch of true manly greats (greats that played in 4 X GF in 7 years and won 2 of them).

Cliffy , Tooves , beaver , stewart bros , killer, ballin.. they are greats . Stuck together. Had pride in the jersey. DCE doesn’t fit the bill I’m sorry.

Someone said it best the other day

323 games without a premiership

46% win rate since signing 8 year $10m deal

3 finals wins in 12 seasons

Sorry but he was a dud investment. Total dud.

Some of you little DCE fan boys are painful. Do you know he actually hates the club? The club you support and love. He cant wait to get out. Made it clear when dragging us through the mud on 100% footy show. You know what he loves though, himself, Money, kicking on the 3rd tackle, himself and money.

I think GREAT just goes too far.

I consider myself to have been a fan boy. I'm pissed at the moment.

Yet I think a balanced view over the years is has consistently left a tinge of disappointment, and never quiet lived up to his potential, and that is how history may view him.

The sour ending just adds to the disappointment.

I was disappointed he didn't embraced the goal kicking role, I still think that could have helped his composure, his leadership and his general kicking accuracy.

It's an inability to grow or grow parts of his game quickly that permeates.

The game management, short kicking game, the repeat set in touch when that was the dominant play, the landing those bomb always being a long way out when other 7 are pin point.

I think of Thurston in his prime,he had a running game, he'd take a hit over and over when halves were NOT protected, same with Cronk. DCE never. Thurston Cronk would have games where they just had the ball on a string with hand and foot. DCE just always a bit short of that mark with the foot. Thurston Cronk they could influence the ref, team mates, opponents. It's the Game Management and Leadership more broadly on field I think DCE really falls a long way short.

Always hit and hope without building pressure and grinding the game, or influencing other with his mind.

Some field goals off the left foot, but the memory often reminds me that if turtles game management and even set play management was better, it never should have come down to a field goal never mind him landing his 3rd attempt.

His defence, that rushing out of the line, you can't say teams haven't targeted him and often found a channel right in between him and his back rower. It his read has been a weakness as opposed to tackling technique.

The turtle has been a good player for sure, and good for a long long time,

But even as a fan boy I think GREAT just goes that little to far on how History should and will view him.

The great car salesman
The great divider ( fans and players)
The great pretender
The great flat track bully
The great field goal specialist
The great talker ( not on the field, press conferences)
The great back flipper
