DCE - Champion

Still filthy about how the channel nine Sunday news sports section started ..."the man that earns 50,000 a game ...

Disgraceful news coverage. Not only does he have his own Queenslanders against him, but the Sydney media want to attack him as well. I don't see them starting coverage when Thurston, Smith, Cronk etc put in a MOM performance with a snipe on how much they earn a game.

Jealousy, incompetence and insecurity, nothing else. A round peg in a square hole for some to handle. I can't think of another player that has been criticised as much for how much they earn. The incompetent Queenslanders who didn't have the courage or conviction to start building a team around the best half this year. Insecurity, because as a leader, players would need to follow his lead which threatens dinosaurs and their questionable behaviour.

Stuff them all, he's ours and if they don't want him, we're happy to have him to ourselves.

That "x dollars per game" logic is rubbish anyway. They're paid to train, to be ambassadors for the club, and to compensate for the fact that they're trashing their bodies. It's not like their wages are just "per game". The job of being a professional athlete in the public eye is a whole-of-life thing.

He is the complete footballer and a wonderful captain and ambassador for the club and the game. like Jamie Lyon he is a family man and very level headed. He is a Manly legend in the making!

DCE as good as cronk says Mat Elliott.

Elliott believes Cherry-Evans is on par with the competition’s very best halfbacks, including the likes of Cronk and Johnathan Thurston.

He went as far as to suggest if Cherry-Evans was to replace Cronk in the Melbourne team, there wouldn’t be too much difference.

“For me, he’s a Cooper Cronk style of player, and given the same opportunity you’re going to get the same performance,” Elliott said.

“Cooper’s got the opportunity of playing in a more highly functional team at club level from a weekly basis.

“But for me DCE is the heir apparent when Cooper decides he’s not going to play rep football or retire.”

Manly have been in solid form this season and sit sixth on the NRL ladder, and Elliott puts that largely down to their skipper.

“Daly Cherry-Evans, I can’t be more impressed with him. I can’t understand why he’s not getting more recognition,” Elliott said.

A huge thanks to Chez for doing a lap after the game tonight and for stopping for numerous photos. (Chez and Uate were the only players to do this, not that I expected any would tonight actually.)

Your a legend Chez......!! (And you played yet another great game, even considering the terrible conditions.)
