DCE 350

100%!

However, many here will tell you DCE had every right to do all of this because he doesn't rate Seibold as a coach.
Nevertheless, I’m guessing you’ve worked with someone you didn’t like ??

I’ve worked with many over the years , was a ground handler for an airline once , their commercial manager was the biggest , disliked , piece of **** that existed.

But you had a choice , accept his **** , get paid.

Not accept his **** , then look for another job.

Back in those days it was worth a motza so we ( me and all the others in the various airports at the time ) just had to accept it.

The Dollar Chaser had that choice.

You know looking back at this sad & sorry 4-5 months what an absolute PR disaster this has been for the Dollar Chaser.

For a start , I get he was pissed he didn’t get a big money offer , and I get he might have been pissed that Seibold got an extension.

BUT, whoever advised him on his actions ( I assume his manager ) needs a rocket up their clacker.

How different would this be.

1) Sorry D$E no extension this time the club wants to move forward.

2) no worries it was always going to come to an end sometime.

3) I’m going to put everything into my last year , giving the fans a farewell they can rejoice about.

4) then ( secretly ) does a deal with the roosters , which in a mutual way is kept hush hush.

5) continues on through the year ( who knows where we may have ended up ) and finishes celebrating his 350th and record game for the club , and on the last game a record attendance farewelling a club legend.

6) then after the dust settles the Roosters announce they’ve signed him for 2 years etc etc.

He goes out a winner at the club he’s been at for 15 years.

He gets his big dollars and retirement nest egg

And everyone is pretty happy.

Compare the pair , this V what’s transpired.

He’s now being ridiculed by all & sundry and is the subject of some pretty nasty journo stories and will leave the club mostly hated and the cherry on top ( pun intended ) a miserable 350th celebration.

You just have to say , he has ****ed this whole situation up monumentally.

An EPIC **** UP one could say.

He walks away as a pariah ( for many).

Absolutely 101 in NOT how to handle your retirement / moving on.
Mate you and I have been around long enough to know this is exactly how it would go at Manly. This club is Olympic class gold at fu*k ups and this is just another in the long line of them. We can't do farewells to long standing players ever. It has panned out exactly as I thought it might , into an end of year fiasco full of failure, disappointment, bitterness, in fighting and name calling.

Sad isn’t it ( in one way ).

What's the saying, don't **** in your own nest.

I may be completely wrong, here but even in last week's presser about missing out on top 8 he said, it's disappointing when there is something you've work so hard for, and you don't end up getting what you want.

It just came across a bit more as a message to our club power brokers than a heart felt I've failed as a Captain to get my team to the 8.

From afar he has imploded our bunch of softies.

I think someone on here would have put this on before but it’s a 2022 headline from the Batoota - seriously eerie

Funny, whether we win or lose against the Dolphins (and they have more injured players than we do, so there's a chance they could let us get the win), it will be emblematic of Cherry's tenure at Manly.

If we get beaten, it will add to his tally as one of the biggest losers in NRL history. Only eight players have racked up more losses in their NRL careers than DCE, so chalking up another "L" for his 350th will be a fitting tribute to his legacy.

And if we jag a win, it'll be victory in a game that means absolutely nothing. Maybe he can kick a 40/20 or snap a field goal to remind us of his stellar contributions over the last 49 years. Again, it'll be perfectly on-brand.

It’s not an easy one to pick , probably the Fins but could easily be us.

I guess that also gives the roosters players the right to feel the same way about DCE as their coach. Sounds fair to me

This playing group actually responds to media criticism and right now there is a LOT - they're literally calling for DCE to retire, which is hilarious. We're going to win against the Dolphins, probably a big one too.

I'm saying this as someone who wants to see DCE dropped to cup.

Fins by 50+.

We will have the same useless coach, Wadell, Same halfback and that usless SHIRT GRABBING, BALL DROPPING JASON F#$@#G SAAB RUNNING OUT, I HOPE WE GET 70 PUT ON US!!!!!

It might not be ending how we all want it, but this man has given a lot to this club. He should get a host of support
What has he “given” exactly? He has been paid very very well to do a job he loves, unlike 99% of humans. And he only stayed at Manly because we offered him a fortune not to jump ship to the freakin titans, and that was after he refused to take a pay cut to keep a champion team together.

As for his playing career, he has never been team first, always played the same, instinctive way he feels comfortable with, regardless of the circumstances and what the team needed.

Yeah dunno , they have in the past , but they looked ( not all ) like they’d checked out just like the captain in the last game.

Hard to come back from that
