Reuben more than Haumole... Did they watch the game?
Obviously not. Have been hard on Ruben in the centres so far. It's been a tough transition. He played well the other night but still had a few issues in D that a better side should have went to town on.
Hamole was immensely impressive. How did he not rate higher than Garrick.

My guess is one of the judges picked turbo, dce and ola and the other judge is an idiot.
Aren't Joey and Freddy two of the judges? I love them but they're loose units, could see Freddy pulling out an absolute wildcard or two after sinking a couple of cones. I like it though, keeps things interesting.

And yet from our back five he made the most tackles and had the best effective tackle percentage

As a centre, Garrick's defensive stats are actually better than Koula's, yet he is often the target of those saying "Poor defence".

I do agree, his defence does need work and right now I do think he's still a better winger than centre. But at the same time he's not as bad as some here would like to think.

Not sure about that. Based on last years stats (Fox Sports Lab) Garrick try causes 24 (no 1 for team) vs Koula 15. Line break causes Garrick 29 (no 1 for team) vs Koula 15. Funnily enough in tackle efficiency Garrick 77%, Koula 71%, plus Garrick made twice as many tackles than Koula. So maybe that means his misses are much worse or when you get beaten cold maybe you don't register a missed tackle - I don't know. But if I had to choose who was a better defender I'd pick Koula on eye test

[Koula played 3 less games and had 3 games at fullback and 2 off the bench which might skew stats - I don't know]

Just to add to that, our right edge of DCE, Haumole, Reubs and Saab usually gets about 2 or 3 times the traffic coming at it than our left edge does, which is why it seems Garrick misses more at times simply because he's called on to do a lot more.

Our right edge also see's about 2 or 3 times more traffic coming at it than our left edge which could be why people tend to think Garrick misses more.

Garrick isn't as bad a centre as people here tend to make him out to be, though I do agree as said that he's still probably a better winger. And yes, his biggest issue is obviously his defence, especially his one on one defence. He did a good job to trap Drinkwater in the in-goal on Saturday and that was a one on one tackle, but those are the type he misses more than he makes.

Hopefully its something they're working on with him.

Over the years we've been blessed with centres like Bozo, Branighan, Russel Gartner, Snoz, Darrell Williams, Rowdy Shearer, Danny Moore, Terry Hill, Steve Bell, Steve Matai, Killer, even Beaver at times. So we do have a high expectation for anyone who wears the No.3 or No.4 at Manly. Garrick's got a bit of history to live up to.
