Match Stats

Having saved myself the aggravation of watching it live some observations from watching the replay objectively.
1. Turbo??? WTF Edward Scissorhands.
2. Defense was good but the Cows threw pies at us.
3. The Olakau'atu kick report was farcical as is Atkins refereeing.
4. Best was Brooks, Burbo, Saab even Waddell was ok except for that dumb holding penalty he gave away.
5. DCE- WTF he is just MIA. Watch the top halfbacks and then compare to what DCE does in attack. Cleary, Hughes, Hynes, Reynolds, will handle it several times a set. Please give young Walsh a go.
6. Our attack is so disjointed and clunky. The result of DCE being uninvolved and Turbo who needs a complete reset and timing calibration.
We were lucky the Cows were completely out to lunch and the crowd was deadset asleep. Was there even a crowd there ?

Sounds like you had a nice night!

Nah, that was on Hoppa imo, Turbo called for the inside kick and was pushing up not expecting the pass which ultimately contributed to knock on.
Yeah he did call for that. That said the pass was totally catchable and he was in position to take it. Your 1mil plus a year player is expected to take that and score every day. Ordinarily like shellibgnpeas for turbo.

Congratulation to the boys. Great win and probably the best defensive display I have seen this season. If we can turn up each week with that defensive mindset and commitment, then I reckon we are real chance for this year. We know we can score tries. We now know we can defend. Lets see if they turn up with the same pride and commitment next week against the Eels. Can they do this two weeks in a row?.

Team on a mission last night and total credit all round including the coaching staff to manage a team and winning effort considering the circumstances leading up to the game .
Maybe the Cowboys a bit off their game but Manly's defence was pretty resolute and determined , numbered up well and the Cowboys did throw a fair bit at them , particularly in the i st half when they had the bulk of possession .
Some really good positive play and good creativity in attack and of course unlucky to not have put on even more points
Burbo has been improving for some time now and went to another level , Haumole quite effective and not too sure of other Blues edge contenders but unfortunately for Manly may well at least be included on the bench .
T K O 's input can not be underestimated , including those 2 handy off loads , Waddell not the most fashionable of forwards but tries and works hard to deserves a wrap as well .
Thought that Brooks defended real well , Hoppa a top game again , Saab is still a constant threat if he gets the right opportunities .
To think that both Turbo in particular and D C E can go better should mean that the side still has some more upside .
Most important priority should be to naturally try and maintain some consistency form wise and to stay thereabouts in the 8 and keep building on that .
Team spirit and solidarity does count and here 's hoping that can continue to be a feature of the side's mindset for the rest of the season .
Ability and team capability is there , just need a good run on the injury and consistency front

He slipped and almost did his ankle. It looked to me like he was in two minds as to weather he should take another couple of metres closer to the posts or just ground it. That moment of indecision caused the slip. I watched the reply and focused on his left leg, which slid like he was on a banana peel.

Anyway, he is definitely clumsy.
I know what you're saying but I don't think he actually "slipped", as such. The grass ripped apart. I've said it from day one that the surface of the Country Bumpkin Stadium is atrocious. Tom almost injured himself in another moment where the surface ripped up. Look closely at the ground during the game and how many divots there are - it's like a cow paddock (pun intended).

Of course the commentators never mention the disgraceful state of the ground because it's not Brookvale Oval.

Three winnable games coming up. And playing the Broncos at Brookvale in a couple of weeks. Very impressed with Burbo last night. He really put in. And with the amazing Tommy Emmanuel who I saw last night in Newcastle after the game. There really are no superlatives fitting to describe what I saw.

Defence is effort :wait:
Cows have many attacking guns, but were kept at bay by strong comitted defence most of the night.
Really proud as defence = effort and this was a game on the road that showed a hungry team, that went at it for the full 80 minutes.
Manly can always score points, so if the defence is solid, will always have a chance even against the better teams.
Just wanna say well done to the entire team, not for just getting the Win, but the way they done it, showing the spirit that fans can be proud of.....Awesome job to all 17 players !! 👏

Turbo in Townsville 2021:

200+ Metres
3 tries
20 tackle busts.

Turbo in Townsville 2025:
'We're experiencing technical difficulties...be right back"

Doesn't really add anything - I just remembered that was 'the game' he had in 2021.
