On a side note, does anyone else think that it is ridiculous that if you don't fight a charge you get one particular punishment when if you do you get a different?? Why make every charge get heard so that the player gets his day in court? Maybe then the NRL might not be so slap happy to charge players.

The same applies in the real courts, unfortunately. Every single day people who should be defending themselves on 'actual innocence' grounds are advised to just plead guilty and act sorry so as to get 'no conviction recorded' or a lesser punishment than if they fight it.

It's balls in both cases.

As said, Taumalolo banned for two weeks but the season injured Matt Scott let off (as it made no difference and you gotta give players some hope!)

Taumalolo defended by his coach on a video feed from Townsville (maybe they didn't take it too seriously?)

I assure you if this were round 26 and Manly were playing for top 8 spot, you would get a different result. The NRL would have found a way to get him off.
Mute point anyways as Manly wont be playing for top 8 anytime soon.
This is akin to a ref giving Manly penalties after they hmave ruined the game to even the count and look fair.
