Considering our injuries

No:
Aloiai
Davey
Siro
Walker
Foran
Cust
Fainu
Gosie
Boyle
That is a massivie injury toll and a lot of cap space sitting on the sidelines, much is written about how the Roosters are decimated by injury but no one mentions us. Considering the long injury toll our run over the past 7 weeks is nothing short of extraordinary!
What it really shows is how strong our depth is this year and with the next generation of stars in Burbo, Fainus and Koula etc the long term future and success is in good hands.

Just wondering what you do with Foran when he's back?
Mate it's a real tough one. Start him at five eight, Schuster at back row, and give him less minutes perhaps? Lawtons versatility off the bench, will prevent Foran from getting that bench role. We will need Forans experience in the tough games towards the end of the season though.

I still think Foran is out 5/8 when fit, will be huge in big games for composure. Schu back to the edge.

There are numerous other selection headaches though!

It really annoys me when everyone keeps talking about how “bad” our depth is. In every position except fullback our depth is excellent and better than most clubs.

We are just more reliant on our fullback than most teams.

Thanks to Bozo and his vision 5 or 6 years back to set up our junior pathways program then to go out west and poach the most promising juniors in the game.

Hopefully the program sticks to its course and continues, I see no reason why it wouldn't with Bobs family still heavily involved.

i know there are others at the club that worked on this system and Im thankful but I do believe Bob was the brains behind the push and I would like to see the club add the FULTON name to the junior pathway program.

Its actually also very ironic that Bob at 18 joined our club and never looked back

I don't think we lose anything bringing Foran back in at 5/8th & moving Schuster back to second row once Foran has recovered from his broken hand.

It's a nice dilemma to have, as opposed to the converse of the situation.
Whilst schu is obviously our future 6 it is impossible to ignore the Glen Stewart type role that he offers on the edge...

If we had an outstanding ball playing second row partner for Guac then I would see the point of booting Foz but I don't think Sirro or Saddler offer that...

I was really impressed with Lawton’s fitness and ability to keep up with the game after a long layoff from a very serious injury. I have always liked him as a player and see him as the perfect utility for us.

Yep. This is the issue. I fear we might go backwards in attack if Siro comes in. Foran and Schuster this year, Schu at six next year and Davey will be back, plus I’d love to go get Briton Nikora from the Sharks.

O
The off season recruitment has been very, very good - Foran, Aloiai, Saab, Tuipulotu, Davey, and Lawton.
Only 2 of those played yesterday tho in what was clearly our best game (including tits win)...

I really think the roles that Keppie, Guac, Tof, Harper and Tent (all borderline or non starters at the start of the season) have played in these wins can not be underestimated... their enthusiasm and effort has been immense and suddenly some of our 'established' players are playing with passion again...

So it looks like Lawton solves our second row shortage issue as well as back up hooker options.

He's a lot bigger than I thought he was, when he first appeared on the field yesterday I didn't realise it was him, especially because it seemed too early in the game for a hooker substitution & Croker was still out there.

Tuipoluto got a run at the back end of the game yesterday.
