Club culture 2022

I have no inside knowledge ... but would suggest that in today's environment of clubs having over 30 (by definition) egotistical, testosterone fuelled, millenials aged in their 20's with often inflated opinions of their importance and abilities ... juggling their "feelings" would be a full time job.

Throw in half a dozen different cultures and postcodes and the wisdom of Solomon would be required.

I can see all sorts of reasons why disharmony could encroach ... but Foz leaving isn't one of them.

But ... nobody is ever unhappy when they are winning ..
When you look it like that yes you are right , **** me it would be a job and a half !!

Can" t see any downsides with a west Sydney connection for Manly , Panthers and Eels and Wests catchment areas have some of the biggest junior nurseries in the game . Already have had impressive outcomes in the junior grades with the link in recent years and good upside with the likes of Oloka - atu ,Schuster , Paseka , Fainu brothers , Saab and other notables including Suli and even Jorge establishing themselves as successful additions .. Many still wished to reside there but the encouragement always no doubt to relocate to the the Northern beaches . Sure that there will be always different criteria opinion for what represents good team harmony but really can "t see any issues in the Manly playing group now . Manly "s indifferent form this season can be attributed to a few factors but again seriously doubt that any team disharmony is among them .

Chill people, every team this year except Penrith have had some crushing defeats. It is the nature of vlandyball.

All this handwringing about splits and agendas is tedious and a figment of your imagination.

Manly is patchy so far but has the potential to improve, and the team will do so.

This site thrives on imaginative drivel and delusional bull****. Silvertails without those two elements simply wouldn't be Silvertails. If we are all taking that stuff seriously, it actually says more about us then it does about the posters in question.

Surely foz can’t be at the centre of a team split at manly for the second time??
Look how well it worked out for him and watmough the last time this crap happened..
Hopefully it’s a non story, im sick and tired of all these players wanting to maximise their earnings as young players then blow up as senior players when their mates get moved on to bump up the new crop of junior contracts.. f$&king hypocrites if true.. again, hopefully just jurnos making stuff up again

I think it's a great idea, my question is just about accommodating difference. You only need to look at the various social media of the players to see the vastly contrasting backgrounds. The Western Sydney boys all seem to be from very large families who aren't overly wealthy but who have lots of family gatherings with extended family and friends. The Beaches boys, eg the Trbjovic's, seem to be from smaller wealthier families which are self sufficient.
If I were running the playing group I'd make sure local boys have a real understanding of where the Fainus, Schusters, Ola'kautus etc come from. Knowledge brings understanding brings commitment to each other.
That's a strong culture.

When they were all in camp together in Qld it seemed to help the team.
Storm has a potential advantage in that almost every player leaves family and friends behind to move to a new city, so the team becomes a defacto family.

Good perspective and probably good that most of the present Westie based lads have come into the Manly footy system as juniors and hope that it continues . Manly junior catchment area is a bit limited compared with most other N R L clubs

I think our culture is OK what is evident this year is that Manly do not have the intensity of last year and have clearly been worked out by our rivals.

I think last years cracks were largely covered by the season Tom had and this year as Tommy has clearly not been right for most of this season we are exposed now and we have too many injuries to key players and some that are playing are passengers right now.

What we need is to look at what is not working right now and that is our spine is not functioning well. The deficit we have in our 9 is telling and we need to try something else to get a spark into our ruck as right now we get easily swamped and contained. It is also hurting our go forward as we need a 9 to go to the line and have our forwards running onto the ball and create the roll on which gives our halves time and space to create.

What is telling is we have had 1 game from Schuster and his creative smarts are badly missed.

I have been a critic of the Blacktown arrangement for some time. I understand its about having a facility for young western Sydney players to come into our system and also its a cost effective method. My concern is what happens at Blacktown and how they are consistently a poor team at the foot of the ladder and there are hardly any players there showing form that challenges the first grade side. I personally would like to see the Reserve grade be based at Brookvale and train alongside the first grade to build continuity and breed a consistent culture. Blacktown is an abyss for some players especially those not from the west.

Things can turn around, no time like the next match to get things moving again. We are busted right now and we have not been able to put our best team out there all season. Hopefully we get a break from injuries and we can start to build some momentum. Tough decisions lie ahead and we need to know once and for all what happens with Fainu and his court case so we can move on. For too long its been a waiting pattern and its stopping the team from evolving!

I don’t think he is but if he were it would be the THIRD time, he did it in 2012 too.

Tomorrows headlines " A Club in Crisis"
yep exactly and then the panic merchants on here will say... see we told you there was disharmony. Next headline will be.... Des has lost the dressing room. It was only a week ago we were all saying how much of a dig they had against Souths with only 12 men and DCE was saying how tight the playing group was. Now we have a divided team and the Coach is on the way out. Give me a break.

hahaha second* rule of being a journo, always protect your source

*it used to be the first rule, but now the first is to make sure you come up with a new talking point every five minutes, and the more controversial the better. Misleading is fine, truth and accuracy welcome but optional
My understanding is that it was never in the media... just the dribble on here!

It was Rothfield's big scoop last week, a lot of unhappiness in the Manly camp that the club didn't try harder to retain Foz

Roothfool has mentioned it twice on nrl360. Last Wed b4 the fight and week b4.
Not sure why the 2nd time as nobody on the 360 panel took any notice of him., or he was so pissed he forgot.

Foz has apparently stated that the club had to been good to him and always made it clear from the outset he would only be doing a maximum of 2 years at the club. I think the situation with Marty might be interesting though. He is on his last year as most of us know. I would imagine he would like to stay longer.
No thanks to that

At the end of the day it is similar to a "friends with benefits" relationship. We both knew what we were in for and at some stage you have to get serious about your future!
