Reserve Grader
First time I watched him play in our under 20s, I knew we had a special talent coming through our lower grade. I made a promise to back him then. That is, he would be forgiven for any error whilst developing and I would cheer loudest at any act of brilliance; and he has already given us plenty of memorable acts of sheer brilliance.
His effort last night ranks with the best ever seen. Injured, in pain and restricted with any lateral movement, he took the field to give us his best. He eased his way into the game letting the sore knee and hip joints warm up. His kicking game was sublime and he kept us in the game. His defence was brave. Then, wow, pow, 10 minutes of sheer brilliance.
His continued combination with Foran gives me sheer delight. I have always said that we have the best halves combo bar none and last night was another reminder that the QLD and AUS half back in waiting and his mate, the youthful veteran captain of NZ are far better than the incumbent NSW halves. Last night proved that we are the current premiership favourites.
The DCE bashing over our salary cap issues has got to stop. The fourth estate can write whatever rubbish they like but I don't buy into any of their crap. Snake was loving every minute of the romp yesterday. Our veterans played only as they have ever known; the Manly culture of toughness and mateship is well and truly alive. I don't believe a word of the current rubbish published by the Daily Telegraph. There were plenty of players rushing over to the refs after one of the dirtiest of plays had taken DCE out of the game.
The Daily Telegraph can suck on lollipops all day for I care. I predict that DCE will stick with us until he retires ... And we will enjoy the fact that he is one class above all the rest and that his mates love playing with him.
