For when they get tired of working over Toronto:

Due to britian's inability to run a half decent competition, Canada has once again picked up a league license dirt cheap to help out the isolationist eel pie eating desperates. Obviously facing, once again situations like no tv coverage, no share of prize money, having to pay for travel for the poor 'ol blighties', Canada will once again strive to bring rugby league to the masses on the back of our society of inclusiveness, even if having to hold chook raffles just to survive while watching the player drain flock to the nrl seems preferable to the terminally confused.

"If the billionaires of that country can't even stump up a few pounds to keep a good game going, then I guess we'll have to," sources close to the new team owners have said.

OTTAWA GETS GREEN LIGHT

The British game will have a second side in North America after it was confirmed that Ottawa will follow Toronto Wolfpack in having its own rugby league team.

The Ottawa Aces are spearheaded by Eric Perez, the ousted former CEO of the Wolfpack, and will join League One – the game’s third tier – next season.

Perez says that he is keen to grow the game in Canada and to hopefully forge a rivalry with Sonny Bill Williams’ Wolfpack

“The success that we’ve had in Toronto, I felt that Ottawa could have the same kind of success. And we needed a rival, Toronto needed a rival and so Ottawa steps in to be the rival,” said Perez.

“It’s a very fast, very exciting, very skilful game and I know Canadians value high professionalism and elite athletes, and this is a chance to see first-class athletes playing an elite game.”

Perez said that Ottawa would begin recruiting players, coaches and administrators in the coming weeks.

Let's hope they're run better than the hockey team, Ottawa Senators. The owner really needs to have his licence stripped. Moron never spends money on players, and only Detroit saving them from being last, a millions years in a row.

I also hope Ottawa get a better deal than Toronto from SL.

Well if they don't want to be "screwed over" why not start their own league? The whole situation is a farce and in 10 years will be all but forgotten about

RFL chairman Simon Johnson gave a impassioned speech to the Canadian media about rugby league's inextricable links to Britain's industrial past, and new horizons in France and now Canada.

"Today is Commonwealth day and its fitting to launch our latest expansion with the Ottawa Aces," Johnson said.

"We've seen positive impact made by Toronto and now seeing the wonderful facilities in Ottawa, we can feel the excitement from rugby league being played in this setting.

"The sports heartland is the north of England, but its vision is now global, which is obvious to all but a few Luddites."

Ottawa has a new team wearing red and black — rugby league's Ottawa Aces.

Toronto Wolfpack co-founder Eric Perez unveiled details of his new franchise Monday in Ottawa. The Aces are slated to begin play in 2021 — out of TD Place Stadium — in England's third-tier Betfred League 1.

Perez has assembled a 26-person ownership group in Ottawa. He calls it a "more of a communal thing" than Toronto, where David Argyle — an Australian-born Toronto-based entrepreneur — is the majority owner and clear signal-caller.

"Our goal is to, one day, do what they did and make it to Super League," Perez said.

"We'll do that with patience and hopefully with some homegrown talent as well. We'll try and get that in as soon as possible."

Is this becasue their first team is going so well?

Yes i went there.

I'd be more offended if you spelt 'because' correctly....

-And if it wasn't kinda true.

New team, new players, gotta gel, we'll be right. Be nice if we were afforded protection from relegation like Catalans was though.

Go wolfpack!
