Without a doubt these two signings are nothing like "superstar" signings, many (Including me) feel a bit underwhelmed I guess that it seems like years since we have actually signed anyone that could be considered "top of the game".

I am however, confident that those closest to our team, the football department (not just the coach) actually have a plan, what that plan is , well who knows.

The only thing I can say is we have improved year on year since Seibold took control, if that happens again in 25 we should finish 5th or maybe even top 4, in fact if injury treats us well (you know who and I won't mention names as that'll put the mock on ) I think 4th is a real possibility.

4th would get us a home final and a guaranteed second chance.

Do I think we have improved enough to match it with Penrith / Melbourne??

Not a chance in Hedes, UNLESS, Penrith or Melbourne suffer their own injury drama's.

And lets face it both of them have had dream runs these last 3-4 years.

Tevega is an all effort player, as @Disco pointed out with the eye test statistics Tevega through effort puts himself around the ball both in attack and defence.

I am under the view that we have similar type players at the club already in Jake, Brown and Navale, they also have a similar body physique, it would be more of the same if we are getting dominated in the ruck with players of this physique, don’t think you can win against the top teams with players of similar physique.

SKO he hasn’t played NRL for two seasons and the game has got very quick, having witnessed how the speed of the game has changed very good players like Jake as an example, I am not confident he can have the impact that the middle needs.

1. Buy experienced guys who'll put in the effort.
2. Spend as little as possible.
3. Get started on blooding our new spine players.

I think Taukeiaho and Tevaga will be good for the squad. Patolo is a dark horse too. I can't see Chee Kam being anything other than depth.

The young guys we have bought are very exciting but I'd say we are 2-3 years away from seeing the benefit of those signings.

Although I rate Burbo's potential, at this stage Chee Kam is without doubt the club's second best edge forward (which says more about our lack of quality depth in this position). MCK played almost every game last year starting 2nd Row and did pretty well when often starting centre. He's a more experienced and dynamic version of Burbo. He will be pretty useful for us I think. However, I am also really hoping Patolo steps up

Chee Kam played 16 games last year for the team that finished 16th.

He started 7 games in the second row, 4 in the centres and 5 off the bench.

Ben played 21 games last year for the team that finished 7th.

Fair enough, thanks for the clarification. That being said, I still think Chee Kam has something to offer and will be playing a fair bit for us this season

So , guess with the acquisition of Tavega, Taukeiaho, and to a lesser extent also applying to Chee Kam and Patolo , pretty much a straight swap for the likes of ,Lodge, Condon and Woods and should be at least a reasonable prospect of a couple of them getting close or being able to replicate the positive side of the Brown effect in 24 and at whatever stages of this season .
So many factors to come into it , energy levels , fitness outcomes and commitment and form levels .
Pretty a hit and miss approach in many ways but not a lot of alternatives in the realistic sense

Interesting, I've assumed the complete opposite to hit and miss - very specific, targeted recruitment based on our cap restrictions and the areas the squad needs strengthening.
Waving goodbye to Lodge when he wanted to stay, hiring Sio instead, dropping out of the bid for Bateman, signing Jazz and Cheeks, Patolo and the gun young spine players, all seems to me to fit a pattern (just my guess of course.)

And where has all that gotten us in the past 11 years? I get being positive just to be positive, but come on, our recruitment has been poor. We are paying Schuster for the next three years. We've paid circa 1M for an oversized Lock (long term). We resigned guys like Brown, Waddell on multi-year deals. An ever improving Bullemor remains unsigned. We've had a long standing Croker at 9 for circa 7 years (and guess our average finish over that span). Should I continue?
