Some may suggest it is irrelevant what the competition is, it is divisive to call that team “Australia” as it doesn’t truly represent all Australians.

Then we "suddenly"want to play test matches against each other ??
In Rugby League history there have been greats like Beetson, Inglis proudly wearing the green and gold, so what's the big sudden movement.
If this was to go ahead, would be a Massive regret in many ways imo.
The idea of Indigeous Australians vs Indiginous NZ pre season is what they should stick to, unless they want Massive smoke and it would turn into Massive fire....I'd say it would be a tough day to even sit in the crowd watching Australia vs Australian Indiginous.....

Nothing wrong with innovative suggestions but this one would just seem to have too many less then favorable aspects .
Let alone the always vexing issue on what should actually constitute an indigenous background or eligibility .
As has been mentioned , already have the annual Maori versus Indigenous event which seems to strike the right balance with this type of a concept and not to cause any complications with the overall existing international comp arrangements let alone again any other adverse type outcomes

Widders was only suggesting that as a stepping stone to perhaps playing in a world cup. As you said, we already have an indigenous all stars team and game. We DON’T need to sew more division in the community by promoting more US and THEM division do we? How about we all unite as Aussies like we have in the past - no matter what our heritage might be. And personally I really like our flag. 👍🏻🇦🇺

All Australians will have a say in the election, just as they did in the referendum. What divides a country is when people can’t accept that living in a free democracy sometimes means you don’t get the outcome you want.
