Caleb Navale

To be fair it was 10 minutes against the team coming last.

Not saying there is not talent there but I am going to guess we are doing the ST thing where we are getting rid of a number of first graders based on this
Regardless of who you’re playing 10 minutes with 4 runs for 40 metres and 14 tackles is as good as the elite forwards of the game. He needs to 100% be on our bench moving forward. Will only get better with more game time

And if he has a down game (which would be very normal) or his numbers do not hold up over longer playing time (again very normal) lets hope he is viewed as a kid on a long term deal not the usual "way"

Ahh c'mon Isz, you know its always best to overhype and then crucify when the unrealistic hype isn't met 😂

All in all been pleased with what I've seen of Navale as a young middle on limited minutes. I do see merit in him getting minutes ahead of someone like Waddell but in no way a must have in our 17 yet.

He may just get there though.

I liked what I saw last night. Especially willing in defence and fast laterally - unlike all of ourforwards bar Ola.

Will Spoony give him another go on the bench? Bloody hope he does.

I don't think Navale has played more than 10 minute stints yet. Others have posted Nav looks gassed to them after that short stint. Im on the record on here saying I would pick Navale over a back on the bench, getting youth in the team has benefits and his leg speed in attack offers value.

But pretty easy to see why he might still be fringe.

I'm still a little concerned about his lateral defence.

The Duck may not be popular on here, but coaches rarely win popularity contests.

I have to disagree about having all forwards on the bench. Backs get hurt too and when it happens it involves a host of positional problems unless you have someone like TT2 in reserve. I believe TT2 is an ideal interchange. Obviously he can cover most backline positions but he is also big enough to fill-in in the backrow in an emergency.
TT2 would always be in my top 17.
