Brooky Oval question

I was watching a Manly game from 1987 this morning and i noticed that the Hill extended all the way around the southern corner to join up with the southern end grandstand back then,but these days the corner of the Hill is longer there and it doesnt start till around the tryline.I was wondering if anyone here knew when that corner of the Hill was taken out,and why,because i am guessing that would have lessened the ground capacity by at least 1000.

Probably OH&S demands caused it - so they had to put the walkway in?

This was removed when they filled in the tunnel.

They decided to replace the tunnel with the open area between the stands and fill it in. This happened some time in the late 90's AFAIK maybe even early 2000's

So yeah the reasoning was to replace the tunnel, so in the end the result in capacity is about the same and it is slightly safer.

early 90's as i recall, and capacity is slightly lower as well.

Its all going to be opinions anyway.

Losing matty's ridge also changed the capacity

I can't name the date but believe the tunnel was taken away to make it easier to get in and out. I loved that area and was sad to see it go.
