Brookie Oval Upgrade

There is always a lot of talk about an upgrade. Surely there has been work behind the scenes.

Would not be surprised if we get some news soon.

Don't hold your breath. No votes for Labor on the Northern Beaches.

Council and presumably the club have been spending a reasonable amount of (in the hundreds of thousands) money in recent times on routine upgrades, like upgrading the lighting, repairs, etc.

With the current state govt needing to work with independents like local member Michael Regan (former Warringah and then Northern Beaches’ mayor), you could make a case for ‘small’ packets (say $2-2.5m at a time) of state money for upgrades in the foreseeable future.

That seems achievable in the current climate.

Our fans need to buy season memberships.
We've sold out almost every game this season, if all of our games were sold out by members each week, the opposition fans would be locked out.
The NRL would then be forced to step in to help with the upgrade to increase venue size.

In reality, if the home ground average attendances stay at their current levels or better, a ground wave of opinion will build towards further upgrades.

The new state govt is spending money on the Northern Beaches. They have postponed the next stage of the Mona Vale Rd upgrade, but they are putting about $70m into upgrades of Wakehurst Parkway (the northern section).

Forest High is being rebuilt in a new location (their hand was forced on that one by the previous govt) and I understand that Narrabeen Sports High will be rebuilt.

Minns does not have a big majority, so he needs to work with Regan and potentially another independent in Pittwater, after Liberal (aka the new One Nation) Rory Amon’s recent moral/life/career implosion.

So Tragic, MissKate, et al, don’t be so negative!🙂
