Brett Morris?

He can catch a high ball...... Can Jorge?
Jorge can get involved up the middle.... can Morris? I see so many downgrades to Jorge it's not funny, hopefully we don't get him but if we go so low to buy him he better be a centre or an expensive early season replacement for Walker.

Morris, if Brett no if Josh yes every day of the week. I rate J moz highly, best defensive centre in the game and goes well in attack, his brother is past it though, cant put a season together and a massive downgrade on any wingers we have, as for Jorge making a heap of errors its not really that, what 4 dropped balls a year I can live with that. His tries and meters make up for it and he is 25.

Jorge made 8 errors in 12 games, double that and you get how many he would have averaged out for the year 16. Suliasi Vunivalu, the NRLs best winger has made 33 errors. Ill leave you at that stat. Jorge was alot better under the high ball this year and if there is a try to be scored he scores. He is a perfect winger for the way we play.

Hard to know if there is some actual Manly club interest in Brett as again every recent instance of a player on the market seems to be linked with Manly . The Pros and Cons of recruiting Brett at this stage of his career and recent playing situation , bit of a vexed consideration really and in what benefit he may be able to bring to Manly right now . Still no doubt a good finisher but quite injury prone and at this stage of his career , probably more advisable for Manly to give him a miss and even if he may actually be available at present . Jorge , Parker [ if Kelly can measure up as a centre ] . Matt Wright , Schuster , a couple of the twenties up and comers , maybe this will be sufficient but as others have still very accurately pointed out , so important to have a high percentage goal kicker for next season .

Morris does still have some speed, and he has plenty of experience and might be a good pick up if the Dogs are still paying most of his salary. But like others I question his worth at 32 next year. Unfortunately he is becoming a bit injury prone in his old rugby league age.

Personally, I would rather we keep Jorge, unable to catch bombs and all, or even play Brad Parker on the wing. They are going to be around longer than Morris will be.

5 years ago after Robbo left I'd have said hell yes to having Brett Morris on the wing for Manly. But not in 2018.

Jorge any day of the week over Morris. He's coming into his prime and is a lot stronger in his runs, always bending the line. He also trained extremely well in the off-season and would have had a good year if not for his injury.

Its rocks or diamonds with jorge but i wouldn't swap him . Ive actually seen him take bombs that i thought he'd drop and the yardage he makes for a winger is irreplaceable. He's not a junior but as good as . If we got morris at his age over jorge ill be pissed off.

I’m sure @BOZO could do that for you!
There you go feathered friend ....

Looks like he's all but signed with souths .
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldog’s winger Brett Morris appears set for a move to Redfern as the Dogs continue to clean out their salary cap, clearing the way for recruits Keiren Foran and Aaron Woods.

Morris debuted for the St. George Illawarra Dragons in 2006, playing 169 games across a nine-year career in the Red V, before switching to Canterbury for the 2015 season. During his three years in the blue and white, injury has plagued the winger, only taking the field for 45 out of a potential 75 games.

Reportedly on $700,000 next year, the Bulldogs are desperate to clear the decks to squeeze in key recruits, Foran and Woods. While they’ve already allowed the exit of fan favourites James Graham, Josh Reynolds and Sam Kasiano, as well as releasing Craig Garvey, Tyrone Phillips and Michael Lichaa, they still remain over the cap.

The exit of Morris to the Rabbitohs would benefit both parties, freeing up the Bulldogs salary cap while also bolstering the Bunnies’ backline.

South Sydney have already announced the signing of Dane Gagai, one of the Maroon’s best players in the 2017 State of Origin series, on a four-year deal. Already possessing internationals Greg Inglis and Alex Johnston, Morris would add some serious strike out wide for South’s, as well as filling the hole left by the departure of Bryson Goodwin and Aaron Gray.

Morris retired from representative football this year following the State of Origin series, capping off a wonderful rep career. The speedy winger stunningly scored 23 tries for the Kangaroos in just 18 games, playing a massive part in the 2013 World Cup campaign.

South Sydney are desperate for quality outside backs. Since winning the 2014 NRL Premiership, the likes of Lote Tuqiri, Dylan Walker, Aaron Gray, Bryson Goodwin, Kirisome Auva’a, Joel Reddy, Dane Nielsen, Nathan Merritt and Beau Champion. They’ve barely signed anyone in the past few years, focusing on junior development instead of recruitment.

It appears new head coach Anthony Seibold has a different approach, though certainly does still have the club’s juniors in mind. The Rabbitohs re-signed young forwards Sam Johnstone, Ky Rodwell and Lucky Ta’avale on multi-year deals after coming through the club’s Holden Cup side.
It’ll be a bold move for Dean Pay, releasing an international winger in his first week of being a head coach, but the job revolves around bold decisions. The deal is expected to be announced in the coming month, as soon as Canterbury decide how much of his 2018 contract they’ll contribute financially.

Can somebody please give me the name of a fullback or winger that didn't drop at least 3 bombs or passes this year .... Jorge's error rate is about the lowest in the NRL.

I'm a fan of Jorge but you've got to be kidding yourself if you don't think every opposition team's first item on the game plan isn't ................."kick high ball towards Tafua wing"

Jorge positives
very powerful runner and great finisher . Averages 166 metres per game and when the try is on Jorge will always deliver
Negatives
Suspect under the high ball and handling error issues

Its a good point but I havent seen a team really pepper him with kicks all night, It would be a good game plan, but then you would run the risk also of him catching it then starting the sets really well, setting the tone for the whole set.

We have heaps of youngsters coming through that can fill the centre and winger spaces. We need to focus on developing them, not buying new players. As for the forwards, yep, we need one or two.

If it was Parra I might believe this, but I very much doubt Souths said "we'll take him for anywhere up to the $700k he's on next year, you just decide how much of it you want to pay".
