Bozo gone

Can't see Brown playing reggies mate. Too good a utility value. Parker on the bench? Interesting selection. Still feel bad for Winterstein, he's been getting better and better (you also then have three backrowers on the bench - I'm assuming you'd play Parker in the backrow) while we have 3 80 minute backrowers starting.

Load up on props mate, and put a utility in there.

I'd use Parker as a utility to cover forwards and backs. To me he's solid and reliable and does his job, but he isnt fast enough in my mind to be a permanent centre. I think he would handle what Brown does, but more effectively.. And I'm certainly not under-estimating Winterstein. That's why I have him on the bench. But if we get Thompson, could we afford to underuse him. OK regarding slipping a prop in there somewhere, but who misses out? Goseiwski (Perrett)? I think Parker would be an excellent utility, cant drop AFB or Winterstein.

He is ruthless and that's why he is a champion.
And also why he is a problem. Champions come in all shapes and sizes. You are not describing Roger Federer here. It's a myth that a bully makes a champion. A bully, like any other personality type, may have been born with immense talent.

We need to be very careful re the under 20’s

Yes they won the comp but it was from 8th (which we got into on for and against). The talent is there it is the consistency that needs work...something you do not want to do in first grade

If you like that x-files type of series, you might enjoy a fairly new one called Stranger Things, it’s not bad. Another ripper that kinda fits the X-Files type genre is the Leftovers, very bizarre, but very very good. Great characters.
Thanks for the tip on Stranger Things. Set in the 80's, loved it.

One small observation from me was we looked a small side compared to who we were playing (particularly Parra)

For sure I think in NRL generally size matters!
I fear some of those U20s will never have an impact at NRL level.

If we got 5 first graders we would be doing well

Don't forget a lot of them were 18 so they have a couple of years to fill out and grow taller but agree if we and not other clubs get a few quality NRL players and 1 or 2 stars we will be blessed

I can also shed some light on Tooves situation.

When Des took over at Manly, the Stewarts, Watmough, King, Matai, Lyon and co. were kids. Des was old school and brought these young guys through the grade. He did the same with Foran and Chez a few years later. The relationship between player and coach was established when these guys were babies and if Des said "jump", they asked "how high".

When Des left, Tooves jumped on board and the team had just won their second premiership. These guys were well and truly established as champions and they knew it. Toovey did not have the luxury of establishing himself as the "boss" before these guys were old enough and successful enough to start throwing their weight around (a luxury that Des had).

In short, it would seem the senior playing group undermined Toovey's position over a number of seasons (in the same way that Farah carried on the Tigers). Player power meant that Tooves never really had a chance. We all know Tooves is as hard as they come and was never going to take any **** lying down, so it's not hard to fathom how the relationship between coach and player became strained...it's also not hard to fathom then, why the club had to make the tough decision and let Toovey go...the damage was done and it was time to clean the place out.

Very sad though as Toovey is a great coach and an absolute champion...it was just timing and the situation at the club at the end of 2011. He was on a hiding to nothing unfortunately.
Just sad , that’s all!!

Mate I’m wrapped that you got into it. My wife was adamant that we were going to watch it. I was Luke warm at best but ended up really enjoying it. Watch the Leftovers, really cool, messy and strange. A HBO classic that’s gone under the radar,
Not on Netflix unfortunately.

Bozo's timing of departure has been drawn into the ongoing salary cap saga. Kate Mc#nt is at it again cleverly insuating that the timing of Bozo's departure was linked to the investigation, then covers her tracks.. The whole article is laced and suggestive of a cover up by Manly...

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...r-salary-cap-allegations-20171026-gz8yw6.html

"One of those set to be interviewed is club stalwart and league legend Bob Fulton who coincidentally stepped down this week as a consultant to the club ending a 50-year association."

Speaking of his decision to leave, Mr Fulton told News Corp that "the club is now in great shape and it was the right time."
It is not suggested Fulton was involved in any wrongdoing.

Yeah just read that. Perhaps Kate and the Lurker could meet up in a dark seedy room one Friday night after a few drinks. The Jerker could do his thing and she could just lay on her back. Who knows, she might conceive, and they could possibly celebrate bringing a brand new, freshly steaming turd into the world. Something capable of continuing the long legacy of sh1t drivel reporting that they are becoming renowned for.

I just can't believe that she can get away with it all. It's so loaded with crap that it makes me wonder why manly haven't taken action. Perhaps they're waiting to be cleared first..

Me neither. By typing "coincidentally" she is straight up inferring that he did it to avoid questioning. By adding "there's no suggestion" isn't enough because she already typed "coincidentally".

The article is full of unproven innuendo based on "years ago" time lines.

Lazy, click bait journalism at it's ill structured best.
