Bozo gone

We all just assume that we are looking for players ..........because it seems obvious that we need some..............but maybe we are not!!!

Thought about it, we could actually release Blake Green to The Warriors and still be ok.

01. Tom Trbojevic (Tevita Funa)
02. Jorge Taufua (Jonathan Wright)
03. Brian Kelly (Brad Parker)
04. Dylan Walker (Matthew Wright)
05. Akuila Uate (Bilal Maarbani)
06. Tom Wright (Jackson Hastings)
07. Daly Cherry-Evans (Luke Metcalf)
08. Darcy Lussick (Toafofa Sipley)
09. Apisai Koroisou (Cameron Cullen)
10. Marty Taupau (Kelepi Tanginoa)
11. Frank Winterstein (Shaun Lane)
12. Curtis Sironen
13. Jake Trbojevic

14. Lewis Brown (Manase Fainu)
15. Addin Fonua-Blake (Taniela Paseka)
16. Lloyd Perrett
17. Jack Gosiewski

That's with absolutey 0 signings, and 30 players - also assume some of our NYC team are signed up.

Be funny as if we’ve been arguing for a month and posting #nextweek every week for a month and the net result is ZERO signings!

That would be hilarious

Jade Anderson (fb) and Titmuss deserve to be there.

Baz doesn't seem to see Tom Wright as a 5/8. I think he see's him more as a centre / winger who can fill in at fullback or the halves if needed.

I love Tooves, one of my favourite Manly people and definitely would have been happy if he was kept on for at least another year. But what about the reports that he wasn’t popular amongst the playing group, which do appear to have some merit. At the very least we all know that the elder guys from our most successful era weren’t getting on with him. That was before Snake had his most ordinary season in 2016 and Matai got injured. Choc flew the coop to Parra, Foran Left as well. There was a lot going on at the time, and it was a very divided volatile group. In 99% of cases like that the coach is the first to go. I just don’t see it as black and white as you’re claiming it to be.
Tooves only enhanced his reputation as a Manly champion with his efforts as NRL coach, but the decision to remove him was based on football not agendas. As opposed to the disgraceful way he was removed, including having his credibility undermined such as by the leaking of key decisions unbeknownst to him while he was live on air on TV.

As I see it the team if we get Thompson will look something like this
T. Trbojevic (Anderson)
Taufua (Anderson or T. Wright))
Walker (Tom Wright)
Kelly (Funa)
Uate (Anderson or T. Wright))
Green (Hastings)
DCE
Lussick (Sipley)
Api (Cullen or Fainu)
Taupau
Thompson
Sironen
Jake Trbojevic

Bench
AFB
Parker
Winterstein
Gosiewski (Perrett)

Can't see Brown playing reggies mate. Too good a utility value. Parker on the bench? Interesting selection. Still feel bad for Winterstein, he's been getting better and better (you also then have three backrowers on the bench - I'm assuming you'd play Parker in the backrow) while we have 3 80 minute backrowers starting.

Load up on props mate, and put a utility in there.

If I ran a club and was appointing a shiny new CEO nextweek🙂 I probably would wait, if possible, to get him in the photo ops with the shiny new signings. Good PR, and adds ownership of the future to the new guy. Re-signing our coach, same.
And to me this would explain Bozo working right up to the previousweek to get as much finalised prior to the official appointment, then respectfully stepping aside to give the new guy clear air.

Titmuss only played 80mins of NYC all year, why does he deserve to be there, because he scored the winning try in the grand final? Showed some promise as an impact bench prop but needs to prove that he deserves a starting spot in the U20 first let alone the NRL squad. What about the guys that produced and laid the foundation all year in the NYC: Faatui, Tarrant, Martin, Olakautu. Or how about the NSW cup guys: Amone, Tanginoa.

Basically with a good pre season with the NRL squad Manase Fainu might be ready for NRL. Anderson, Cust, Metcalfe, Funa, Tarrant, Faatui, Paseka, Olakautu all need to prove themselves against grown men in the NSW Cup. Physically they might be ready but mentally they arent.

@Kevinward777 and @Ryan

Bozo is on record as saying that the decision to oust 2V was made before he got involved and he was not the instigator. The dribbler that wrote this article was obviously not aware of that fact.

I couldn't imagine Bozo doing that. Seems everyone has a conspiracy theory about everything, and that nothing is just done for the betterment of the club. I mean, why can't Bozo leave, after he's turned the ship around to just spend more time with his family?

Agree, my read is simply that the Baz negotiations were the catalyst for him realising that the hard work had been done ... and it was time to go.

Being only a bit younger than Bozo it is never a pleasant moment when you recognise that it is in the best interests of all concerned to step aside. That the young talent you put in place are now ready to replace you.

He would clearly be a bit emotional and reluctant ..... but wise enough to go out on top. Lesser men leave it too late.

Do you really believe it was amicable.................you don't think it has something to do with the coach and incoming CEO wanting to ensure there is no one lurking in the background to undermine their authority?

After all the previous coach and previous CEO were Bozo's victims.

At least the pubic statement was amicable.
Anyone that knows Fulton knows that he doesn't get pushed, nor would Manly dare try and move him on. He would clear the Penn's out of their own club before he would allow anyone to push him out. If Fulton didn't want to leave, you can bet that he would fight tooth and nail to stay...and even then, if push really came to shove, he would never leave without making sure there was mass casualties as a result.

He is ruthless and that's why he is a champion.

I can also shed some light on Tooves situation.

When Des took over at Manly, the Stewarts, Watmough, King, Matai, Lyon and co. were kids. Des was old school and brought these young guys through the grade. He did the same with Foran and Chez a few years later. The relationship between player and coach was established when these guys were babies and if Des said "jump", they asked "how high".

When Des left, Tooves jumped on board and the team had just won their second premiership. These guys were well and truly established as champions and they knew it. Toovey did not have the luxury of establishing himself as the "boss" before these guys were old enough and successful enough to start throwing their weight around (a luxury that Des had).

In short, it would seem the senior playing group undermined Toovey's position over a number of seasons (in the same way that Farah carried on the Tigers). Player power meant that Tooves never really had a chance. We all know Tooves is as hard as they come and was never going to take any **** lying down, so it's not hard to fathom how the relationship between coach and player became strained...it's also not hard to fathom then, why the club had to make the tough decision and let Toovey go...the damage was done and it was time to clean the place out.

Very sad though as Toovey is a great coach and an absolute champion...it was just timing and the situation at the club at the end of 2011. He was on a hiding to nothing unfortunately.

Mate the issue is all of the back up players are rookies or non first graders so we have zero depth (and a heap of potential)

You may be right but the timing is odd.

At best this is a team struggling into the 8....................not competing for the premiership.
A few of the teams that finished out of the 8 this year seem to have strengthened for next season as well.

I think the club needs a star signing or bloke that can make a difference to give it a boost!

Be there? On Ryan's list that had gaps in it? Because he scored the winning try in the GF.

Agree. Some fans are massively over-estimating our list. I guess time will tell though.
