Bozo gone

Regardless of whatever machinations or behind the scenes issues recently at Manly "s front office, Bozo Fulton has again delivered very well in his latest contribution and brief for the club . Largely restoring the first grade side to being quite competitive and around a strong playing nucleus , challenging for a title again and also very importantly really strengthening and improving the lower grade ranks . The ultimate professional [ one of the reasons for him being a League player ' Immortal ' and of course will always be a great Manly icon . I like the look of a Barrett , Gorman and Holmes combination and very hopefully they can continue with the excellent and successful blueprint and legacy that first Arko and now Bozo Fulton have provided . Good point about Bob Fulton"s four year stint with the Roosters , which i guess leaves him about three years short of a 50 year association with the Sea Eagles but regardless still a mighty and highly successful association as a Manly Sea Eagle player and official .

Now with Lyle Gorman said to be waiting in the wings. I just have great difficulty believing Bozo has just decided to walk.

For a change the club has handled this really well, l so hats off to all involved.

A seed planted in the media, someone's unhappy they missed out on the CEO job. Now a statement Bozo has stood down of his own volition because the time is right. We put 1 and 1 together without a word being said.

I wonder in reality if Kristy and her "Karma's a bitch" comment when it was Bozo or Cleary and Bozo won has gone full circle.

Perhaps the perception that Fulton's run his club wasn't a good look for Rick.

Pushed or Walked, regardless, Let's face it, if Bozo was the only man needed or wanted, Gorman wouldn't have even be discussed would he.

Thanks Bozo. All the best in the future.

While driving in to work this morning I was listening to Hadley and reading between the lines in what he was saying I have an inkling that Bozo was pushed. Hadley was perplexed with why Penn’s decision in bringing in Gorman to the club. To me that in its self-was very odd given Horse Head and Bozo are so tight.

Firstly no one would dare post anything in Telegraph anti Bob Fulton therefore the person that was unhappy he missed out on the CEO job wasn't Bob - perhaps it was Neil Bare? What about the thought that Trent wouldn't sign on dotted line unless Bozo was gone? Perhaps he's requesting someone else needs to go as well - someone that has some weight issues? Interesting timing Bozo leaving with the salary cap issues. Food for thought.

Watch the publicity in the next few months - I'm sure it's going to be negative given the weight Bozo and Hadley have in the media along with the fat one. Good luck Trent - wouldn't want to be in his shoes at the moment.

Penn needs to be in control of his Brand. Baz just happens to be the current Coach, so any attacks on him would be perceived as an attack on Manly.

I can't see that happening from Bozo :shake:

Gorman would be more likely to withhold his signature, than Baz.
As the CEO he would demand control and oversight @

Baz has no other options as a head coach in the NRL. Once he gets Manly a Premiership or two, then he can demand more monies.

Someone who has an extra fridge or two?

Most likely the disgruntled ex staff who are now talking to the NRL salary cap auditors also have something to do with his leaving

Very interesting situation the club is in:

OUT
Bob Fulton
Tim Cleary
Willie Peters
Brett Stewart
Steve Matai
Nate Myles
Brenton Lawrence
Peta Godinet
Jarrad Kennedy
Billy Bainbridge
Jackson Hasting (reportedly to Storm)
Blake Green (reportedly to Warriors)
Lewis Brown (allowed to seek alternatives)
Trent Barrett (extension delayed)

IN
Jack Gosiewski (Blacktown)
Toafofoa Sipley (Blacktown)

Lots to do, and different gaps to fill.

So why did Bozo speak in such glowing term regarding Baz? “That he struck gold with Trent.” And “Trent did what no one thought was possible.” Amongst other things. All of it high praise. Is it some sort of ruse that he’s concocting so he can fire bullets afterwards through the media? Go back and read the interviews when Bozo was announced. They all stated clearly that he was signed for a short time to overhaul the football department. Bozo himself said he didn’t think it would be much more than a couple of seasons. Arko wrote a congratulatory letter praising what Fulton has done and said he knew he would walk away. Could it just be that he did his job, did it well, and now he wants to get back to family and less commitments? The man is 70 and is still very busy in other areas, particularly in the media. I think Bozo would have been pushing for Gorman, and is content that his Work here is complete. And no way was he eyeing off the CEO position, he didn’t need to, the Penns handed him the keys to the kingdom two years ago, back when Fulton told us all the role would be temporary and that he was coming in to do a job. Or, believe the conspiracy theorists, Fulton is falsely heaping praise on Barrett and co, so Hadley and his other mates can snipe them through the media, cause Bozo wanted to be CEO and for his son to replace Barrett as coach. He wants the football department to fail, even though to do so would make his last two years look like a joke to the football world.

Weird, Melbourne Storm win a premiership, and can still afford Nate Myles (through the season), Hoffman, Kasiano, Kaufusi, Earl, Papenhuyzen (all as new players) & resign to pretty big contracts: Addo-Carr, Asofa-Solomona, Blair, Bromwich, Chambers, Croft, Finucane, Hughes, Jacks, Kaufusi, Slater, Smith, Stimson, Vinivalu & Welch - FMD

Just amazes me, when Manly can only sign a couple of Blacktown players.

Mate, I've heard from the horses mouth how much he loves Trent Barrett. Absolutely glowing at any opportunity about him.

It'll all be revealed then in coming weeks,or whenever Gorman is installed as CEO, because Hadley won't be able to keep his mouth shut if bozo has been shafted. He'll start an immediate character assassination of Gorman same way he did, albeit briefly, with Cleary.
It'll be childish and petty and go on and on and on. He won't mention why but it won't be hard to tell.

@Harvies elbow that was my take on it so I guess we will have to wait and see what pans out

Yeah that’s all I’ve ever picked up as well mate. Barrett also bangs on about how much he’s learned from Bozo (multiple times) Some people just love a good Hitler dictatorship conspiracy theory though. Unfortunately te evidence is stacked against them, and their tales of undermining whilst in pursuit of a Fulton for CEO, Fulton for head coach and Fulton everywhere else will eventually fade away to nothing. So the Fulton’s have members of the family in various roles....so what, look at the Bulldogs. Just based on the facts the conspiracy theorists are clutching at straws. Again, just look what our squad now looks like compared to two seasons ago. The fact Fulton himself opened his first interview after being appointed by CLEARLY stipulating his role was only ever going to be short. The fact that we now have a very settled coaching department. And a very well respected CEO who is on the cusp of signing. He is a 70 year old man. For me it appears pretty much black and white. He’s made some hard calls, some which were not popular, but he’s got the business done. I was never over the moon with the School principal as our CEO, and to be honest wasn’t surprised that he got the arse. His appointment resulted in some major upheaval. At the time I thought this isn’t a fcuking high school mate. He went about things in the wrong way imo and his major appeal of gaining funding wasn’t enough to save him. Gorman on the other hand has a proven track record. And lastly, I’m certainly not someone who has many contacts in the game. However I have a good mate who most certainly does, albeit at another club and he told me in no uncertain terms that Toovey was well and truly on the nose with a lot of the players (not just the usual suspects either). Unfortunately any coach who becomes unpopular with the playing group will eventually be shown the door, irrespective of previous results. Just ask Madge, Sticky and a multitude of others. Bozo could see the club needed a fresh approach and went to work.

Bozo must be given credit for getting the squad in good shape and making the tough calls he had to make, a few that I personally disagreed with but at no stage did I doubt that Bozo had the clubs best interest at heart.

He cleaned up the mess created by the owners over the dreadful treatment of Toovey and the botched negotiations to sign our halves in 2014 and managing an aging team that had to be discarded and rebuilt.

The club is in decent shape now with a good pipeline of young players coming through, let's hope that the club does not squander this work and consolidates and builds on his work.

Thank you, Bozo!!

Hear, hear mate. I was actually told by a player, that Tooves used to scream at them (including the leadership group). I guess that's not such a bad thing, you see it in most locker-rooms. It's sad that Tooves was on the nose, because he bled Maroon and White, and while I was really tough on him about something that happened with Shane Dunley (who am I to judge anyway - a lesson I've well learned in the past few years), he actually handled the end of his tenure very professionally & with a lot of class.

I think there is no winners in that situation.

But you're absolutely spot on about Bozo. He was brought in to do a job. We were becoming a perennial non play-off team, and within 18 months, given a new coach, horrendous player turnover and injury toll, he turned that around - much to his, and Trent Barrett's efforts & success.

Just seems people are looking for ways to find every scenario negative for Manly. This whole saga was handled perfectly, from Penn, to Fulton, to Barrett. He has absolutely put the club in a position he said he would. I understand Bob Fulton was pretty tough. I've messaged a few of you about Wayne Lambkin, and that situation, but there's no point in advertising that now.

I very much look forward to having Gorman on board. Cronulla Sharks went from strengths to strengths with him there. He was able to attract talent like Dugan & others. He secured the financial status of the club. He brought on new sponsors. He was part of the upgrade of the surrounding areas of Shark Park.

Exciting times ahead. I'm really excited to see what an un-seatbelted Trent Barrett can do with our playing group.
