Agree definitely a different style but exactly the same non coherent, made up ****File under unimportant but anyway:
Is it just me or does anyone else think the person doing the Lurker stuff on Sporting News is a different person this year? Tone is very different across the board. Less snippy.
Maybe he or she is going through a change ?File under unimportant but anyway:

I thought DCE had a bunch of significant TPA's too so what his true cap hit is is anyone's guess...Every single team is top heavy with very expensive players. Some teams have millions spent on forwards but no comments on them.
Give you a tip. Our halves " combination" would he one of the cheapest in the league. DCE, earns, but gets the marquee allowances etc, and Elgey would be on pittance.
Same with the TurBros - wholesome and marketable players are now scarce 🙂I thought DCE had a bunch of significant TPA's too so what his true cap hit is is anyone's guess...

By way of answer I can only rely on my 10 years as a copy boy/cadet/journalist from 1970 to 1980 in two major newspapers and then the profession was rewarding because it was interesting work, you got to travel and meet fascinating people, often got to cover music and sporting events from good seats, got six weeks annual leave (because you worked shift work) and when you returned to work you had a 'clean' desk as someone had to fill in for you when you were away (unlike many jobs when no-one does your work and you return to a pile up of things to do). Wages were determined by your 'grading'. After being a copy boy for 1-2 years you became a cadet (up to four years). Wages were not high but were adequate and you could claim expenses. If you were smart (or related to the editor) you could get your 'D' grade within a couple of years. Then your talent could progress you through to an 'A' grade which was quite well paid. From there you could be promoted to news editor, chief sub-editor, and editor. You could also be sent to exotic postings such as London and New York.... I got Canberra! If you became a 'name' such as Derryn Hinch (who was one of my bosses for a while) you'd negotiate your own salary.Do journalists get paid well?! If so I'd love a go at it. Write anything that pops into your head, and have the rest of the day off. My sort of lifestyle.
it helps to be female, perky and pretty.
