Bodene Thompson

It’s understood the Sea Eagles have shown some interest in backrower Bodene Thompson, who remains without a deal for next season.

While Trent Barrett’s team are keen on the former Titan and Tiger, they don’t have enough room in their salary cap to table him a deal.

The 29-year-old has spent the last three seasons at the Warriors and could still stay at the club, although a move to the Super League is also an option.

Gee willikers batman,I thought we were supposed to have a truck load of money to spend....better check who has been raiding the piggy bank.

Nath Ryan who wrote the article mentioned its more so his asking price is quite high. I think that is more than enough reason to be saying no.

How can we not afford Bodene Thompson who at the most would want 400k? Someone at the club is either getting way to much or Fox has got it wrong. Look at our top 17.

1 T Trbojevic (900k)
2 Wright/Taufua (180k)
3 Walker (500k)
4 Kelly (180k)
5 Uate (300k)
6 Green (300k)
7 Cherry-Evans (1300k)
8 Lussick (350k)
9 Koroisau (300k)
10 Taupau (600k)
11 Winterstein (200k)
12 Sironen (400k)
13 J Trbojevic (700k)

14 Brown (180k)
15 Perrett (180k)
16 Sipley (200k)
17 Fonua-Blake (350k)

We have a bargain basement team/squad how could we be so close to the cap already for 2018?

Very informative, I didn't realise you had access to the players contracts. So now we all know where we stand on the cap, who should we buy.

Fox is certainly wrong, no need to worry. Part of our higher contracted players in DCE, Trbo's, Taupau's contracts are paid in TPA's as well

Speaking of the cap next year, anyone know if we would be obliged to contribute to Nate Myles' contract given he was signed with us through 2018?

Or maybe the club has other players lined up already....

Think you are spot on. My mail was that we had put contracts to certain players mentioned in other threads and the club doesn't want to miss those marquee signings for fill in players. They just haven't signed them yet. It would make sense to have an alternative list and / or conversations going with other players should any of those not proceed.

I think more clarity will occur after the Grand Final when silly season officially starts.

If we get who I am told - I'm excited for the next 4 years. Not even Greenturd's antics will stop us.

Still a bit difficult to gauge where the club"s cap situation would currently stand . Turbo 1 's cap listing would need a bit of adjustment and does not take into account at least another 8 or so present squad members such as Parker , Lane and a host of others . However the 17 that he has listed would on my quick mental calculation , probably would equate to around the cap"s present designated level . So i guess that even with the additional contracted squad members cap component for next season and with the adjusted cap increase for next season , , there should still be some allowance for at least one marquee level player or some reasonable rated players. There may be also an alternative preference to lock up some more 20"s players for instance . There could still be some active horse trading happening in approaching times but again i guess perhaps also dependent on the interest in still retaining some of the club' s emerging juniors , could be some interesting times ahead .

That winger from the Rats is impressive.
Don't know who Moyza is; not thrilled about Lillyman, but the Big Dog would be handy.
