Big gamble on props

1978

Reserve Grader
If reports are true that we are shopping Lussick around, that leaves us with:
  • three recognised NRL props - Marty, AFB and Perrett (who is still fairly raw)
  • three back-ups - Tanginoa, Sipley (barely any first grade), Paseka (no first grade).
Six props (two of whom are rookies) is not enough over a full NRL season.

Trent must have other plans:
  • Buy a journeyman prop
  • Convert Winterstein into a prop (to replace BJ's mobility in middle)
  • Play Lane off the bench in the middle.
  • Fast track the two under-20s forwards in our NRL squad
Jake is a middle player too, but you can't lose Lawrence/Lussick/Myles and replace with one reserve grader from the warriors (Sipley).

What gives?

Lussick has already angrily proved that this is not the case, so, no problem

I still rate props vital to winning matches, you can count lock as a prop if you want. Doesn't change my opinion.

I heard 1 definetely but possibly 2 of the pommie props will be announced as signings after the RLWC finishes.

Even if Woodsie’s claim is BS I wouldn’t be surprised if someone has been signed and their deal means we have less money to play with to go after Pearce.

A couple of still not proven prop performers in the quartet of A F B , Perrett , Sipley and Paseka but still combined a group of very promising and capable props and to compliment the more experienced Marty and Darcy and which most other N R L clubs would not have available or to utilize for next season .
