Best GO Forward in the NRL ??

There are a few teams with good power to gain field position in 2018.
The Cows on the back of Taumoloulo, Scott, Hess are up there and Feldt is an under rated yardage winger and some have them the best in this area....
This Manly go forward of AFB, Kapow, add Tanginoa and the improved Lane with Perrett rightfully back in the 17, are imo as good as any.
Then there are 2 wingers in Taufua and Uate who cart the ball with thrust and bend the line, giving the next runner plenty of momentum.
Is this close to, if not the best go forward in the NRL, or is it a case of the Manly glasses blurring the vision ??
And if this IS, up with the best, after winning field position and on the back of a decent kicking game, this is a huge advantage right....unless of course the opposition gets the old piggy back up field from their own tryline !!
Our go forward is consistently strong, our wingers and full back get us on the front foot and our forwards do a good job rolling things forward, the biggest threat to this is ball control and discipline without the ball, go forward is useless unless those things are controlled.

I'm really holding out hope for Tanginoa. I didn't really rate the guy but he impressed me on Saturday night. I hope he can repeat that performance consistently throughout the year...will be a huge boost for us!

I am a fan of Kelepi .... love his energy and workload. I think he would be explosive and effective on the edges as a 2nd rower.

But ... I have my reservations about his effectiveness as a prop ... too small .... watched him in a reggies game last year, great enthusiasm and hard running, but against a big opposition he was bashed in attack and carried for metres in defence. Newcastle are not a big pack.

But hope I'm wrong ... have been before.

Also, as @Chip and Chase has mentioned, it appears that the amount of ball playing by our forwards has increased notably .... I believe this is very much a new pattern and tactic ... good benefits when successful, but probably over-done against Newcastle.

I'd like to see our forwards run onto the ball more often. Too often we've seen our forwards get the ball from a standing start. It's a testament to our forwards that they get the metres they do even after considering their standing start.

Agreed, imagine our post contact metre Kings actually hitting the ball on the burst??? #goodtimes

All the go forward from your pack, all that grunt work to even get into a good position.....means nothing when you're not holding onto the ball, and we handed the ball to Newcastle all too cheaply last week. Our forwards did some great work, but we weren't taking advantage of it.

And there are much better teams than the Knights in this competition who will hurt us if we continue to hand over cheap possession.

Lane looks angrier which was the area he needed to improve

I think the move to the middle could be just the tonic that Lane needs to lift his game to the expected level. Playing in the back row he can be lazy and he has a tendency to hide out on the edges, but as a front rower in the middle it forces him to remain involved because there is nowhere to hide. And personally since he came to us last year I always thought that playing him in the front rather than the back row would allow us (and him) to utilize his size and skill to full advantage.

Lane to prop is one move that I think Barrett has got 100% right.

I think our Wingers are the two biggest butterfingers Wingers in the comp. Neither of them can catch a high ball, Uate is slightly better in this regard.
Tafua is as slow as a wet week and would be better served in the second row.
I think the Squeals will towel us up this week. I hope I'm wrong.

Jorge may have hands of grease in general play and under a bomb, but when there is a try on offer in the corner he has two of the best hands in the business. If his hands in general play were like they are when there is a try to be scored he would be just about the best winger in the competition regardless that he doesn't have a winger's speed.
