Ben Hunt?

Ben Hunt turns 35 in March next season
Ben Hunt has no chronic Injuries that have kept him on the side lines on a regular basis
Ben Hunt was at the top of his game half way into last season and then something happened and his form dropped . No Quality player drops form just like that unless they become demotivated for some reason .
I think hunts on and off relationship with the dragons has now become off for good
I think he would be looking for a 2 year Lucrative deal to keep him self stimulated and motivated

I've collated the various responses to be graphically represented in the below pie chart

We would win a premiership with Hunt at 9 but there's no way we could afford him.
Depending who is salary cap managing us
Depending who is coaching us
We talk about the Roosters sombrero
But the sombrero is not just an empty hat
The Sombrero comes with shrewd brains

I’d say there is an agreed payout with any potential buyer having to pickup the difference. Because even if they mutually agreed on terminating the contract on the basis of about say 500k the NRL should value him at 950k which means $450 onto the new clubs cap. I expect he already has a new club.

If we could somehow squeeze him in money wise for the 2025 season it would be a huge YES from me. Having him at 9 would suddenly make us a top 4 team and serious premiership contenders in what will most likely be DCE's final chance at premiership glory. Even if we had to offload a player such as Saab or Koula to make it happen let's do it. DCE, Turbo Tom + Hunt is a winning combo for sure

Disagree, based purely on the fact Hunt has made it quite clear he doesn’t want to play 9 week in week out and the fact he’ll be 35 at seasons start.Big difference playing 3 Origins a year for maybe 40-50 minutes a game,to playing 20+ rounds at dummy half. And if you’re going to match the $$ he’s likely to be offered elsewhere, you want him playing close to 80 minutes a game. The club already has 3 9’s on the books for next season anyway.

What’s interesting about that is that (using your example figures) Hunt could collect $500k from Saints to leave & still pick up a contract worth $950k for 2025 if another club is willing to pay him that much.

So, unlike the Bateman situation (where it’s assumed Wests would pay some of his $800k per year contract to get rid of him with whatever club he goes to paying the rest), Hunt is essentially a free agent & can earn more than $950k in 2025.

I think Matt Lodge did that twice, when he left Brisbane & when he left the Warriors.

Did hear he may be off to the dogs - a bit of space without JAC. Obviously not a great development for Sexton.
