Bottom line is baring injury and retention we should be confident of keeping up to 12 of the current squad together for up to 8 years ... happy days.

The elephant in the room is DCE is 28 ... how long can a top halve go?

Thurston, Cronk, Luke Lewis, Gallen, Smith to name a few. The monumental advancement in recovery, preparation and treatment now means that barring a career ending injury 34 is now more like 31.

Agree on the young roster - there has been plenty of panic, but the fact is, this squad with the addition of 2-3 players will be a major force for the next decade....most importantly - lock up the talent here long term before going shopping.

No real reason ... and I am probably wrong, but his body shape and game style don't seem to be the long career type. But who knows.

34 was my benchmark age for retirement given a fit uninjured ref protected player like Smith,slayer,crock,Thurston,and all other ageing queeeeenslaaaanders,however manly superstars could go on to infinity and beyond.ie cliffy,beaver,to name a couple,played well beyond retirement age

Then there's potential first graders Billy Bainbridge, Tom Wright, Paseka, Amone, Jamil etc and in years to come maybe Albert Hopoate and Ben Trbojevic. And there are one or two others potentially who could be in first grade within the next few years.
