Barrett speaks out

At the end of the day, what is the cost of a few plastic chairs and a couple of tables ? All Blacks team culture is built on them cleaning out the dressing rooms themselves after a game. Pay me the money that Barrett would have been on, I would have drove the team bus, clean the showers/ toilets, done all the massaging / strapping, worked the sideline as a ballboy etc, etc and still think why was I so lucky to have this job !!!
He obviously has ambitions. Not a bad thing of itself. In this case we will all enjoy watching the next few years unfold to see who will do better, Manly or Barrett. If he gets another gig a new rivalry may be born!

We simply don't have the income to be a professional club like the rest who have rich leagues club to fund losses All clubs except the broncos run in the red Total losses last year were $60m between the clubs

Who will stump up the $4m loss each year to pay for more coaches? The Penns?

All of Barrett's gripes are frivilous and pedantic. Just shows he doesn't have a clue about coaching and men mentoring. The laughs on him. What a spineless, egotistical and intellectually bereft piece of sh#t he is. Put himself above the club and playing group. Should of resigned ages ago but wanted the pay cheque. F@#K Off and good riddance.

You have your agenda, there is no denying that. I'm not saying the Penn's are flawless but you keep barking up the same tree and hoping the mudd sticks.

Your husband did a great thing for our club but at the same time if we continue to play his endeavours off of any new owners then it does nothing but hinder progress.

Max will always be fondly remembered as the man who saved our club, no doubt about it. But we have to stop thinking our current owners are killing the joint and max is the only salvation yet again.

Nobody sinks millions into anything unless they give a ****. For anyone who has that kind of money to support the club I love more than I ever could, im grateful; and I am willing to accept mistakes. S**t happens.
Max is most definitely not the only salvation. I have never said that.
People are willing to invest money which keeps getting rejected.

Max is hurting just like everyone else is and he knows it’s no easy fix.

But sometimes people need to accept help and say they aren’t doing ok!

While millions have been put in the club, millions have also been taken out with the sales of the leagues club. Any passionate person would have injected a few million of that sale back into the club and still profit.

We are a strange mob ....

Zorba and Penn combine to get rid of Max and trash his character ....
Zorba and Penn fall foul of Des and combine to trash his character and reputation ...
Zorba and Penn fall foul of Toovey and trash his career ....
Zorba and Penn fall foul of 3 CEO's in 3 years ....
Siebold leaves the club after a couple of months
The club falls foul of Foran. Watmough and others like Glenn S. Brett S. Matai and Jamie haven't bothered to look back ...

... but when Zorba and Penn combine to trash the credibility and character of Barrett ...... suddenly they are 100% correct and truthful ... FMD .... I know which bloke I would believe ...
AMEN

A lot has been made of this borrowed furniture... cleaning the gym once off almost 3 years ago. All very petty stuff. It's actually embarrassing for TBerculosis to include this in his tell all breaking interview, especially when those things probably occurred in the first week of his job. Some here think that the Penns are at fault and that they have failed our club. I think that these are 2 separate issues. The one issue that TBerculosis cannot escape is that he has failed as a coach, as a mentor, leader and motivator. His outgoing record is a testament to this. He cannot hide any longer. The results don't lie. Goodbye TBerculosis. Please use this to clean up your Shi't before you go...

Ok, let's spell it out.

- League club land, only Manly asset sold for a shed load
- Details of deal kept secret
- Final settlement of the deal is in 2019
- Penn's are holding on to the club and turning down a reputed huge offer to sell now (i.e. middle east consortium, anyone wonder why anyone would offer $12 m ?)
- Penns running the club on a shoestring and not investing anything
- Penns not really bothered about on field results and pretty much have been awol owners throughout the year from hell

Lets see how quickly they dump it after the land deal settles in 2019
I'll bet it all that at the start of the 2020 season we aren't owned by the Penn's and they wont give a f*** what we are called, where we are located or who owns us.
I don't agree with a lot of the things they are doing and it's obvious that their commercial interests are paramount with little regard to the fans or members. Having said that, they are the benefactors of our club. They are keeping us afloat and actually poured in a lot of cash to defend the club from salary cap charges. There is no doubt they need to lift their game, make the club more professional and genuinely engage with the fanbase and community at large and rekindle our unique culture. We are obviously going through a period of rebuilding. I'm going to be a bit more patient before I march down to HQ with my pitchfork .

They probably threw in the money for the salary cap defence because it happened under their watch.

Who will escape Manly’s legal minefield

I can't see Trent Barrett being removed before Manly's final game of the season.

It would make what is already a legal minefield even trickier as both parties look to get out of the deal over the coming weeks and months.

So what figure would Barrett want to walk away with 10 months remaining on his contract?

I'm hearing the not so golden handshake would be around the $400,000 mark.

And how much are Manly's owners willing to pay?

Try about a quarter of Barrett's asking price - if that.

Talk about ugly.

Give him nothing. If he has another gig to start november 1 he will have no choice but to walk or he will lose that gig.

Manly can tie the payout to a clause prohibiting Baz from working for a competitor till the end date of the payout :nerd:

Sounds like another dumb contract that Manly CEOs are renowned for 😕

Trent Barrett has a 'dirt file' on Manly Sea Eagles owner Scott Penn

Trent Barrett has a secret ‘dirt file’ up his sleeve and is set to dump it on Manly’s owners as the hostile legal battle hots up at the besieged NRL club.

Amid reports Barrett may be removed from his post before the Sea Eagles’ final round clash with Brisbane on Sunday, it’s been revealed the coach’s legal team has a thick dossier of exchanges between the coach and club chairman and owner, Scott Penn.

Penn is outraged Barrett dumped on the Sea Eagles in an exclusive interview with veteran News Corp journalist Phil Rothfield.

The chairman will argue the coach breached his employment conditions in disparaging the club public

Barrett is seeking a pay-out for the final 12 months of his $600,000-a-season deal – and will use correspondence between him and the club to prove the Sea Eagles are in breach of contract by not meeting a number of conditions.

“What was printed was probably a quarter of the issues (Barrett’s) been dealing with,” Rothfield revealed on Triple M.

“(Barrett’s manager) Wayne Beavis came to this interview and the legal file he was carrying with all the documents that have been exchanged...you would have nearly needed a forklift to bring it into the room.

“There’s been that much drama behind the scenes the last 12-18 months.

“We had an agreement his (Barrett’s) lawyer would look over the final copy (of the story) to ensure he wasn’t going to get himself into a legal stoush.

“There was a good portion of the article taken out to protect Trent and that‘s the only way I could get him to talk.”

Rothfield doesn’t believe Penn has grounds to sack Barrett immediately on the basis of the Sunday Telegraph story.

Buzz said: “I know Trent’s got a very good legal firm behind him and consulted a QC before he did the interview.

“I think it would be very unfair, very un-Manly, very un-rugby league to sack a guy for telling his story.

“He’s been bashed and hammered by the Penn family, by (CEO) Lyall Gorman, and was returning serve.

“He was told not to comment – they were supposed not to comment - but he thought it had got to the stage where he did have to come out and defend himself.”

I'd like to say

"I vote no more articles from know manly haters and serial fiction writers, the sporting news."

But I know that wouldn't happen.

So...

May they all have to walk the plank on talk like a pirate day.
