Was 18 straight hours of heavy rain yesterday as well, field came up well. Good work with the pics of the killing fields as the old showgrounds were known as. I managed to play one game on there before they were lost to this current scaffold setup. The new stadium is going up extremely quickly and looks the goods

Just got home from it, pretty happy with the effort of the kiwis considering the firepower not there. Lack the ability that was shown from Tom to break something open out of nothing. Playing Eagle Rock after he set Lomax up was amusing, what you don’t see on the TV, is how many times Tom goes to the other side of the field, and nothing happens so he heads back to his side, he is always moving around and shows leadership organising things on his side too. My boy gave him man of the match on the way home

Meninga is using Tom the centre as he should, giving him a roving commission to chime in if he see's something to exploit. He's not restricting him to just the right side of the field. Pretty much how Fittler had him playing during Origin in 2021.

Curious, was Hammer doing the same thing, going across to Tom's side?

Just got back from the game. Manly had both hookers for Samoa (Tavaga and GCKT).
All it's done is highlight the importance of having a warm-up game. Same with the Pacific championship. The second match performances are way better than the first.

Bring back the Kangaroo Tours. And I mean the old fashioned ones like from 1994 back where the Kangaroos played club and county sides in between the tests. Don't bring back the abbreviated ones of 2001 and 2003.

The old Kangaroo and Kiwi tours were fantastic. Even as a kid I used to go to a few club and test matches. The last club side to beat the touring Kangaroos? Widnes in 1978... I was there for that one.
But they allowed the touring team to gel unlike Samoa 2 games in a week FIFO

No he wasn’t I don’t think, I wasn’t watching him as closely though

There were a few times in front of me Tom called Lomax inside him and went out to the wing, and also moving the 2nd rower outside him too, constantly looking for something different which was interesting to watch

Agree, but can you imagine the carry on from the clubs about workload and burn out if they took a 35-40 man squad away

The other problem these days is that the Super League is a summer season over there running virtually parallel to the NRL. A full on, old style Kangaroo Tour during their off-season would be a bit of a logistical nightmare.
