AREA Manly MUST Improve.

First Grader
There have been a few blasts relating to poor Attitude, bad defence, Effort, poor quality players ect, ect and for most ....they have merit.
Here is something that comes Cheap-Cheap.
TALK....Communication....
Thinking about this recent form and what needs to be addressed to kickstart a recovery....
The players are like strangers - these blokes seem lost at times, especially defensively and not here to cover Kelly who has been badly caught out on that left side...but the inside defenders are not a hell of a lot better....these numbers are from the bloke either side, not knowing what the other is doing??
Even through the middle the talk is poor and players are left unmarked after tackles and look confused with zip ties around the mouth....
First thing I hope Baz does - get young Tommy T to watch a highlight package of Snake Stewart - The general from the back who continually sprayed his front line into place all day.
A fan of DCE here, but his lack of talk has really been shown up also...as THE key man, simply has to Rev up the troops more....again - watch Cronk, Smith...they never stop and it's a massive part of why they succeed...its Greens job some say - well NO - DCE is our Marquee player and needs to find his voice.
This is an area we won hands down during the Golden period of Snake, Watmough, Gift - these blokes were recognised as great players because they were, but the effect they had in lifting the team can't be measured and was even more important.
Players knew their role and those who were unsure...were quickly TOLD.
Anyways - just a thought.....

I think turbo Tom will have a more vocal voice as the years go by , as stewart was like a church mouse when he first started out . Stewart had Bk there as the voice of inspiration then the mighty killer lyon and Jason King. Its probably going to be a time thing to get this back as Dce to me just can't pull the team together as those past legends could . Those days with all those players were the best because you could always turn to anyone of them to lift the team . 18 will be a telling year because the likes of Marty , and Walks will be going into their 3rd year and need to lead by example.

I think Jake has too get involved in the 'talk game' too. He should talk to blokes like Fred Jones and Max Krilich. They weren't backward in coming forward and giving their own players a serve when they needed it.

Too often I see Jake standing behind the try line with a forlorn look on his face. What he needs to be doing is going up to the c-ckhead who threw the dumb pass/missed the easy tackle (I'm looking at you Tapau, Lawrence, et al), and ripping them a new one.

In other words, fire them up.

I dont know if that is in his DNA

Good point . Jake seems the type who does his talking by his actions on his game and to a point it would inspire his team mates but I agree with you Tezzar that Jake the introvert should learn to come out of his shell and raise hell when the boys start to veer off the game plan .

There is so much sound coaching advice on this site that it's astonishing our slump has lasted this long.
It's almost like Barrett doesn't read our posts, sometimes I wonder why we bother!
